First, congrats on a fine job hosting "the picks" part of that horrendous Emmy pre-show. They interviewed more CW stars than soap stars. However, you looked like a million bucks in your duds, Nel. You go girl!!!
As for the show, well...clearly it was all about the CW and not daytime. I had no idea when i told all of my friends to tune into to the show that they would be seeing a Vanessa Williams concert. The opening number, i agree, was good, but the fashion show segment where all of those so called "soap stars" where posing like bitches in heat was beyond ridiculous. And was it just me or did anyone else want 75 year old La Lucci to take a header?
Those precious minutes wasted, along with what i call a "PSA For The Hungry" was time that could have been given to the GL Tribute, showing clips of the nominess and ESPECIALLY to Brad Bell and the cast of B&B. I waited 22 years for Brad to get on that stage and what do i see??? An American Airlines promo and the backs of their ****ing heads as the show fades to black. How utterly insulting!!!!
You wanted us fans to support the show, and we did..and this is what we get in return??? And how can you expect us to support a medium when the very people who work in the medium don't support it??
Those bitches from "The View" and Meredith Viera can't make the trip, but the whole cast of GL can????
As for the winners, i have to say most deserved their award. As much as the show sucks right now, i was thrilled the most for Brad and the cast of B&B....but that thrill turned to disgust in a heartbeat when they weren't given the chance to thank his fans and his father on live tv.
On a separate note, i thought Katherine Kelly Land was presenting with Ronn Moss. Then i heard she had to back out, but then i see she was there (lookin gorgeous as usual in that beautiful dress of hers). What gives????
As much as i love daytime Nel, if they decide not to air the Emmys next year on tv, i will not be disappointed. If what we have to look foward to is the debacle we saw last night, i would rather the Academy just have a drive up window where the winners can pick up their awards and be on their way.
The downfall of the Emmys started as soon as they moved the show from NYC to LA.
But thanks, Nel, for always doing a fanatstic job for us fans. Though you may feel like it's a waste of time, we, the fans, appreciate it.

See my brief summary of what I thought of the Emmys. Hint it was summed up in three words lol.
But in all seriousness, Nelson, Jamey, & Stephanie it was cool to put faces to the voices and words publish. Kudos to yall for adding some class to this mess.
I don't want to blame Jim & team too much, b/c they were dealing w/a lot of stuff that was against them, but since this did decent (well by the network standards) I hope they look at the comments at the various sites and look back on this awards show and see what worked and what did not, b/c now all the can do is go up. But lets us hope that ABC does decide to air it next yr.

Haskell should stay in NYC, and Kaye should leave AMC to rejoin OLTL as Patrick. My only worry would be that his Patrick would swallow the show just like his Zach Slater swallowed AMC, but it would be a hell of a lot better than Stacy, so I'd be willing to give it a shot.
"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide." - Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)
Nelson, I'm not getting your "Do the math" with Haskell/Kaye. I can't imagine the predicament they're in. She is at the top of her game on OLTL and just friggin won the Lead Actress Emmy and apparently more people are worried about keeping him on AMC than Susan Lucci.
I can honestly see them staying in NYC and him crossing over to OLTL. This will pave the way for Minshew to decide to stay in NYC.
I'm sure Minshew would go to OLTL if that were the case. Kelly recast maybe?
Nel, be more specific with "Do the math!" Is Haskell taking her two Emmys and headed west?

I really enjoyed all your coverage, but I must respectfully disagree with your Top 12 fiercest list -- I think Heather Tom was the best dressed of the night
And Julie Berman looked awful. I would have expected someone like Elizabeth Hubbard to wear that...

Tamara Braun was truly the BEST DRESSED! That damn dress was AMAZING!
My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.
Whoa the soapgeist is already up! Shouldn't Nelson be waking up right about now from an alcohol induced slumber?
Nadia Bjorlin looked like she was trying too hard to be Daytime's version of Megan Fox with all the black, the cleavage and the severe eyebrows. It looked like draggy meets blowup doll. Her hair had zero movement, was it dipped in a vat of hairspray? Hansis looked like he'd be auditioning for a remake of Saturday Night Fever. 2 years in a row Hansis has proven to be sartorially challenged.
Kudos to Kim Zimmer who was an entertaining presenter. She should do hosting chores. Where's part 2 of Mulcahey's interview?????????????

But the difference is that Patrick is a good character that has a purpose on the show and a history and connection to the characters. Zack just showed up out of nowhere and was thrust into the center of the show; with no real backstory or connection in place. he went from being Maria's lackey to all of a sudden being the centerpiece of the series.
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

I think Kaye will stay in NYC and go to OLTL. ABC won't want to lose him, and it seems that Haskell is very happy at OLTL. Why take the chance of up-rooting their entire family to another coast when they can both work on the same show together and continue on happily in the life they already have?

My only fear is that they will just allow Minshew and Kaye to move to OLTL and play Zach and Kendall and think of what that would force OLTL to do?

Agreed. But even a good character turns sour real fast if they're shoved down our throat 24/7. AMC ruined Greenlee and Kendall with overexposure. Those characters would have been stronger if they were balanced with the rest of the canvas. And given how TPTB at AMC seem to think Thorsten Kaye's Zach Slater is the priority of their show, I suspect Brian Frons would mandate all Kaye all the time, and might even force Carlivati to write him as a virtual copy of Zach Slater on OLTL.

If you only saw Tamara's second Emmy dress she wore later. THE BEST OF THE NIGHT. But she told me she was scared it didn't fit right. It did (very Angie Jolie). Think Red tafata/black leather.
