SOAPnet.com is reporting Aiden Turner has been let go at All My Children. According to the site, Turner will not be in a storylines past his current contract and was given his walking papers today. A statement was released today stating,

"Mr. Turner’s departure is storyline dictated. Given AMC's upcoming move to Los Angeles, we wanted to give Mr. Turner advance notice so he could plan accordingly. Mr. Turner is a talented actor and we wish him well."

Some people, if they don't know, you can't tell 'em.

I would celebrate this news, but I long ago gave up on AMC. Still, I don't understand how an irrelevant character like Aidan Devane and a middling actor like Aiden Turner lasted eight years on the show before finally getting written off.

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."
- Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)

I wouldn't consider him middling. I think he's a very good actor. In fact, actors should watch the episodes where he got shot and take note. It's no wonder he was nominated for those episodes.

A handful of good episodes in eight years does not a good actor make. I've seen plenty of his work since then, and he's had plenty of opportunities to impress me. He has the dramatic presence of cardboard.

I disagree. I think he's one of the better actors on that show. He's impressed me for the eight years he's been on which is more than I can say for most of the current cast. If I were producing the show, he'd be one of the last actors I'd get rid off.

They should've sent him to GH ages ago where he actually has family connections.

This is good news just way too late to matter. I just hope he doesn't show up on GH or any other soap anytime soon.

Turner is extremely likeable but hestiate to call him a "good" actor. AMC actors aren't good enough to rise over the horrible writing. He'll definitely get another job.

i wonder if this move to LA could be serving as a smoke screen to dump some of the less talented actors from the show? perhaps a creative rejuvination is going to take place? or maybe that's simply wishful thinking?

Who would rejoin AMC?

Why would the Cady, Julia, or even a Rebecca Budig rejoin this show when they ( a) treated them like crap or ( b) when they did return made it not happy time for them?

I suspect AMC is dumping some people only to entice Lucci, Kaye, Minshew to move to AMC and thus they get more money or perhaps they now even have to pay for their flights to and from NYC to LA to tape? not sure how that works but I remember AW used to pay to have Jensen Buchanan flown in from Vermont to NY to tape her stuff
