i am very excited for this. i loved steve as host in the past and i think these two will be great playing against each other. it will be funny to see steve talk about not hosting alone this time.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a very funny ceremony. Alec has been great on SNL, so we know he can do live. I am just nervous that this won't excite younger viewers.

Me likey. I've been out of the house/away from the computer all day so I just heard this very minute. These guys are the bees knees. Very psyched. Good job, producer dudes.

My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.
Been working, just saw this, and it is great news! They should do quite well together!
But to be completely honest, I'd have liked to see either of them teamed with Tina Fey instead. I think that her and Baldwin would be obvious comedy gold, but after Fey and Martin presented at last year's Oscars together, and were the only funny ones up there, actually making me laugh out loud, I think they'd fit well too. Still happy with Martin and Baldwin, though.

As much as I want this to work out, methinks this is going to be very bad. Yes, they've both been really successful at hosting duties at SNL but this is entirely an different animal. This is the Oscars! I don't know it this A & B combo will work out. They both have big egos and would want to have lots of air time. I know that at the end of the day, they'll probably share equal time, but I can easily see trouble arising ahead.
Perhaps, after the ceremony, I'll be eating my words but I'm not sure if this will work out. Although, I can see them do well with a musical opening number but as far as actually running the entire show, um, oh no....

I wouldn't mind if Baldwin brings his Jack Donaghy persona from 30 Rock so long as Martin doesn't bring his Gavin Volure persona from his one episode stint on the show.
FYC: "Up" for Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director
Steve Martin could have handled hosting duties alone. Don't like the 2 hosts idea at all.
"They made a porn movie about Sarah Palin, and the same actress, Lisa Ann, played me in the porn version of '30 Rock.' Weirdly, of the three of us, Lisa Ann knows the most about foreign policy."

It will be interesting to see how these two will work together. I'm delighted that Steve Martin is taking up hosting duties again. Pairing with Baldwin might either be good or not. I'm sure that they will pair off well, if they have a healthy relationship off-screen. We have people like Billy Crystal/Robin Williams who could be a riot when paired up. So it might not be too much of a failure about this. I will really be interested to see how it turns out.

What makes you say that? Do you just not like those guys or the two hosts thing, or what?

I don't like the idea of the two hosts and after Hugh Jackman did an amazing job, I think that having a great showman host. Neil Patrick Harris has been amazing the past 2 shows he has hosted and this should have been his job, I guess I can take some comfort in knowing that Tina Fey isn't hosting.

Yeah. I would have preferred NPH myself. And having to watch Tina Fey almost look like a girl for 3+ hours might have killed me. But I think these guys will be good. And I'm guessing their co-hosting means there could be many guest appearances. Like on SNL when these guys host and other people pop in because it's a big show. I could imagine other funny guys like NPH or Justin Timberlake popping in for "skits".

There is no way the Oscars were going to choose NPH after he just did the Tonys and the Emmys - that would be beyond embarassing. Their the Oscars, not these other minor league awards shows (which all the others are). Maybe some day, after he resumes a movie career.
