This movie was an excellent movie!!!! Although this movie won't be nominated for any acting Oscars (way too much competition), can this movie be up for any other nominations? If not the Oscars, what about the Golden Globes or the Independent Spirit Awards? Although this movie performed poorly at the box office, it had great reviews. There have been plenty of movies that have done poorly at the box office and still managed to get awards nominations. Will Fox Searchlight,who marketed this movie the wrong way, try to push this movie for awards,along with Ameilia and possibly 500 Days of Summer?

Poor box-office and rave reviews can get you into the Oscar race but that is not really the case with "Whip It!". Sure it got good reviews, mostly, but not enough to make up for audience indifference.

I suppose Ellen Page could be a Golden Globe nominee but I still think by December there will be five more likely nominees.

I think Fox Searchlight would be better off pushing Whip It instead of Amelia after Amelia's terrible reviews and poor box office. At least Whip It got good reviews. Even Kirk Douglas praised the movie on his blog earlier this month,but that could only be because his son,Peter, was a producer for the movie.
