The Top 50 Female Performances List was a rousing success! As a reminder, here's the top 10 from that list:

10. Nicole Kidman -- The Hours
9. Bjork -- Dancer in the Dark
8. Ellen Burstyn -- Requiem for a Dream
7. Judi Dench -- Notes on a Scandal
6. Naomi Watts -- Mulholland Dr.
5. Nicole Kidman -- Moulin Rouge!
4. Kate Winslet -- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3. Marion Cotillard -- La Vie en Rose
2. Julianne Moore -- Far from Heaven

Now for the Male Performances voting!

Same voting method as last time:

SEND 25 *RANKED* PERFORMANCES TO ME IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE OR E-MAIL. MY E-MAIL ADDRESS IS slaytonbourdon@hotmail.com

Your #1 performance will be given 20 points, your #20 performance will be given 1 point - etc, etc. Performances #21 through #25 will be given 0.5 points each

For those of you who cannot understand this (I noticed last time that there were quite a few), here's what your ballot should look like:

1. BLANK in "BLANK" (20 points)
2. BLANK in "BLANK" (19 points)
3. BLANK in "BLANK" (18 points)
4. BLANK in "BLANK" (17 points)
5. BLANK in "BLANK" (16 points)

23. BLANK in "BLANK" (1/2 point)
24. BLANK in "BLANK" (1/2 point)
25. BLANK in "BLANK" (1/2 point)

SOME MORE RULES

+ If you want to count a performance in a film that is part of a trilogy or a two-parter, you MUST COUNT THE PERFORMANCE FOR EACH SEPARATE FILM, NOT THE TRILOGY OR TWO-PARTER.
For example, you can vote for Ian McKellen for any one of the three LOTR films, but not for the trilogy as a whole. You can vote for Benicio Del Toro for either Che: Part One or Che: Part Two, but not just for 'Che'.

+ You can only rank 25 PERFORMANCES by ONE ACTOR EACH in ONE FILM EACH.

+ Films listed MUST HAVE BEEN RELEASED IN THE UNITED STATES BETWEEN 2000 AND 2008. If a film released in America in 1999 or earlier is on your list I will have to ask you to change your ballot.

+ I reserve the right to ask you to change your ballot in compliance with any of the above rules before I officially count it.

*

You will have until December 26th, 2009 to vote for this list. Keep the ballots coming, and happy voting!

Feel free to offer FYCs in this thread, or discuss the list.

Another note - if the film never got an American release, judge its year of eligibility as the year of its first release in one of these markets:
UK
Canada
Ireland
Australia
New Zealand
South Africa

If it never got an English-language release at all, or if it never got a theatrical release at all, judge it as eligible in the year on its IMDb profile.

Unfortunately, I won't be counting performances in TV movies or mini-series for this list, because I didn't do it for the females list and I'd like things to be even.

You can't do this:
10TIE. BLANK 1 in "BLANK"
10TIE. BLANK 2 in "BLANK"

or this:
10. BLANK in "BLANK 1" & "BLANK 2"

You can only do this:
10. BLANK in "BLANK"

lol, is that simpler?

I get that there's no ties, since you have a ranking system. And you've already said it's del Toro in Che 1 OR 2, not just Che unspecified.

But we can choose the same actor for any number of different films they've been in, correct?

Yes.
And you can have Benicio Del Toro on your list for both films, but you're going to have to choose which one comes first.

Same for McKellen. Feel free to have him on your list three times.

Any one actor can be on the list for any number of performances, but there can be no ties and no actor occupying one place for two or more performances.

I've submitted my ballot! It wasn't easy, but I put great thought into my choices, recalling a lot of specific moments in individual performances. I like looking back on performances that I've nearly forgotten about, or haven't seen in a while. Thanks, Puxzkkx!

I personally don't think anyone should be allowed to vote for this list unless they have seen Andrei Zvagintsev's "The Return", Iciar Bollain's "Take My Eyes" or Andrew Dominik's "Chopper". All three are available on Netflix and EVERYONE WITH NETFLIX SHOULD QUEUE THEM AND BUMP THEM TO THE TOP STRAIGHT AWAY.

I've seen two out of three films and still plan on voting. And I am not planning on voting for Eric Bana from "Chopper" or any of the three leads, the father and his sons, in "The Return".

pacino, i highly recomend you "Take my Eyes" (te doy mis ojos). I think it will be good for your spanish and also it is a great movie.

One of my favourites, but i prefer the girls than the male actor.

Just my opinion. I consider the performances of Dobronravov, Bana and Tosar to be absolutely essential viewing.

Wait...why do you have FYCs up for 2009 when you cut off the dates at 2008?

Performances from this year are not eligible, right?

I am seeing some marvelous Gaumont French short films just released by Kino on DVD by great early directors like Alice Guy and Louis Feuillade, many of which were made between 1900-1909. Some have very memorable performances, which I can add later, along with some early Griffith and other pioneers). I assume based on the name of this thread they qualify.
