Of the three, I'd say Mulligan has the clear edge. Both Cornish and esp Tautou might have a struggle being nominated for Oscar. I can see wins for either of them, esp Cornish, leading up to it. But not, an Oscar nomination.

I voted for Mulligan because she seems to have the most buzz right now.
But here's a silly question: will Hilary Swank get nominated for "Amelia?" The film opens next weekend and I haven't heard anything about the film or its chances.
Is early word of mouth negative? I'd imagine everyone would be talking about "Amelia" and its Oscar prospects if the early buzz was good.

Mulligan and Streep I think can be considered locked at this point. Both of them have the insanely good reviews and the traction to make a mark at the SAGs and then the Oscars regardless of whether they do well at the Critics Groups.
I'd also consider Sidibe a very, very safe bet, with either Ronan, Swank or Mirren being likely fillers - Annette Bening too, if her film magically finds release and a campaign before December.
And I do have a sneaky suspicion that someone like Tilda Swinton or Shohreh Aghdashloo will find luck at both the Critics Groups and the press/broadcast/guild awards and find their way into the shortlist.
Or, better yet, that someone who was completely shut out of the precursor awards gets nominated, a la Laura Linney and Tommy Lee Jones in 2007.
To be honest, I'm hoping that all 16 of the Big 4 Critics acting awards go to people that have no chance in hell of getting nominated (maybe performers in VOD films or Asian people) so that the Academy is forced to think for itself for once in its adult life.

And count me in as one of those offended by the "catfight" stereotypes when it comes to two or more women running against each other in any race or competition.

Oh, gimme a break! Why don't you complain when I label the guys' battle as slugfests?

So true. So true. I have never heard a peep about that.
