I just came back from seeing this movie, and what a wonderful movie this is! Richard Jenkins, Haaz Sleiman, and Hiam Abbass were all so amazing in this film! Is there a way to get the word out now so that it might actually have a chance at the oscars this year? I know movies (recently) like Away From Her, La Vie En Rose, and Erin Brockovich came out around this time and they were pretty successful at the oscars with wins and nominations. Is there a way to boost The Visitor's chances?
P.S. - If you haven't seen this movie yet, try and find a way to see it!

I definetly think that if The Visitor gets some really good buzz, then it can do well at the oscars this year. Richard Jenkins was great, Haaz Sleiman was amazing, and Hiam Abbass was wonderful. The movie I thought was really realistic, and I think that that is what made the movie so beautiful. I really hope that they decide to promote The Visitor for the oscars because it is such a great film, and it very well could surprise in nominations!

Buzz has definetly not died... just look on imdb. Many are predicting that Richard Jenkins has such a strong preformance that it will carry on to voting time. There is also buzz for Haaz Sleiman and a lot for Hiam Abbass.

OMG. I just made it back from seeing this and was hoping for more of a response from people around here. Bocaboy7, I am right there with you. I will be keeping my fingers crossed extra hard for Jenkins come Globe/SAG/Oscar nom day. For those of you who seriously try to see all the Oscar worthy films, you definitely need to watch this. I was just sitting there wondering "Why wasn't this released closer to December?" In reality, the film deserves 4 nods: Lead Actor (Richard Jenkins), Supporting Actor (Haaz Sleiman), Supporting Actress (Hiam Abbass) and Origian Screenplay (Tom McCarthy). I will, however, settle for Jenkins.
PLEASE GO OUT AND SEE THIS! Bocaboy7 and I want to see more posts.

Oddly enough there are a few posts in the Oscar 2008 thread about the performances in The Visitor. Good that this thread was bumped up. This film, had quite an impact on me, much the way Kite Runner did although they are very different films. Highly recommended.
