I think she could very well be. And to some extent we can add Amy Adams to this list of the next Julia Roberts. But Hathaway has come a long way since The Princess Diaries. She became more well-known in The Devil Wears Prada and just recently Get Smart (which might I say, she looked so sexy in...). Anne sure has the looks and the acting chops, and I think her future is very bright. The studios want her! And lucky for her, she is only like what, 24-25, so she has a whole future ahead of her! We are sure to see much more from Anne in the next few years!

For the love of... can we just stop comparing these young up and comers to past stars? It puts ridiculous pressure on them. Hathaway has put a few hits behind her...let's see where she goes next and leave it at that.
Emmy FYC: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, The New Adventures Of Old Christine
I see the comparison, because she's got a similar look (though she's even more gorgeous), she seems charming, and she's a natural romantic comedienne. But it's hard to find another actress who could find success like Julia Roberts'. It's unrealistic and kind of unfair.
To me, Katherine Heigl reminds me more of Julia Roberts than Anne Hathaway. That's who I have pegged as "the next Julia." Though Anne is a fine actress and has a place in Hollywood within the future.

See I always considered Anne Hathaway to be the next Katherine Heigel & Katherine Heigel to be the next Amy Adams & Amy Adams to be the next Nikki Blonksy, but what do I know! Or maybe Abigal Breslin is the next Dakota Fanning or is Elle Fanning the next Dakota Fanning. Maybe Abigal Breslin is the next Elle Woods! I'll watch the show & keep everybody posted.

Everyone keeps forgetting that Julia Roberts was an Oscar nominee early on in her career for a dynamo performance as a Supporting Actress in "Steel Magnolias." Roberts' early careers was littered with hefty acting chops. I LOVE Anne Hathaway but I think that two successful romantic comedies and a big smile in no way makes her the next Julia Roberts. She has way more to live up to than that if she wants to be the next Roberts.

Katherine wishes she were the next Julia . But why are we talking about a 'next' Julia? Julia Roberts is still relevant and working.

Besides GoBlue!'s and GH's greatest points, if there was to be an actress from the younger set who would be the next Julia Roberts at least to have that kind of success that she has had, I would have said that Amy Adams is closest to it right now since she did get an Oscar nomination for Junebug, and Enchanted sort of seemed like her Pretty Woman except she didn't get nominated there except I think she might have more acting talent than Roberts while Roberts had more charisma to pull in big audiences. If she had gotten a nomination, which I would have been fine with if she had taken Cate Blanchett's spot, I thought it would have been like a passing of the torch thing with both Roberts and her being in Charlie Wilson's War although Adams was wasted in the movie.
I like Hathaway, but I don't think her movies are successful because of her yet otherwise Becoming Jane probably would have done better (although to be fair actors don't seem to have the pull that they did), and she's usually ignored in her movies which you couldn't say about a young Julia Roberts in her movies.

Yes, I appreciated Katherine speaking out about Isaiah Washington and his slurs and like her work in general although she didn't deserve an Emmy last year either. However, she should know better than to keep biting the hand that feeds her. (I feel the same way about one of my favorite actresses Samantha Morton always dissing her projects and people that she's worked with. On one hand, I find it somewhat refreshing that a publicist isn't obviously feeding her lines or her interviewers lines, but mostly I cringe because it's just going to be that much harder for her to find work, talented or not.) Anyhow, even if Roswell sucked, even if Grey's Anatomy sucks, and even if she didn't like Knocked Up, she should know better by now to know that she's easily replaceable. I mean she was fine in Knocked Up, but it would have been a hit if Anne Hathaway or another young actress had been cast. At least Roberts with all of her flaws and all seems pleasant to work with, and I've never heard her badmouth a project that she's done.

So far, she's following Julia's path!
Emmys FYC: Lead Actress Comedy Please view the actual tape submissions and reward for quality...
...Not because of buzz ...Not because the nominee has 3 other Emmy noms ...Not 'cause the nominee is a writer so this would be great after the writer's strike ...Not because the nominee starred in a movie this spring.
Please view the actual tape and reward for QUALITY.
I like Anne Hathaway as an actress, and think that she has a luminous screen presence, but I think that Julia Roberts is a more organic, natural actress than Hathaway.

why is it ridiculous? We all have different tastes. We all have opinions on who we think are attractive and so on. for me..i think she is not attractive...AT ALL!! Ok? I think she looks like that puppet/muppet off of The Dark Crystal. The muppet "Kiera".

Anne Hathaway proved she could act in "Brokeback Mountain."
I don't think Anne Hathaway is "limited" enough just to be the next Julia Roberts. Comparisons are cool but it's better if she can stand on her own.

though she does resemble Julia i'd say acting wise she's more similar to Sandra Bullock or Meg Ryan than julia in terms of her career, except she's yet to have the kind of huge box office sucess that Sandra had with Speed and Meg had with When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in... though i guess it's possible she could soon... (i dont' count Devil because let's face it that was Meryl Streep's movie, and i doubt anyone saw it for Anne Hathaway)
Ron Carvalit, you are my hero!
