I've thought for a while that Mo'Nique had it in her to pull off a great dramatic role. I'm a fan of her stand up (haven't seen her movies) so I'm interested in seeing her in the role. Reviews and buzz have been great. Where does her role rate on the scale of scary mamas? Close to Mommie Dearest? White Oleander? Postcards From the Edge?

I think she puts up with her man molesting her daughter so she can keep him which seems like it should rank right at the top.

The name should stay PUSH: Based on a Novel by Sapphire. I don't think they should change it. The other "Push" film bombed at the box office anyway and is completely different, so I doubt people are going to get confused. I don't know if I'm really feeling "Precious" as the title...however ironic it may be.
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak Adele for "Hometown Glory" Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody" The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' " Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"

I have yet to see this film, but I have only heard good things of it. And it looks like Mo'Nique could get her first Oscar nomination, especially since she won the major prize for acting at Sundance. Maybe Mariah Carey will tag along for a nomination as well... No joke!
Does Tyler Perry really have any sway over Oscar voters?
But yes, I expect this to rack up awards for Mo'Nique and possibly for Sidibe and the screenplay. Carey - nope.
Oprah - yes. Tyler Perry - maybe. Lately he has become more famous and more influential in the past couple of years. So yeah, with Oprah's name and Tyler Perry's name next to insert correct name of movie (is it Push or Precious now, I'm kinda confused), it will help a lot.
And Mo'Nique pretty much seems like the greatest lock right now for a nomination next year along with Carey Mulligan. And I'm a little shaky on Mariah Carey as well, but she does have a chance. It's only Feb. right now, we have a little while to see how this will pan out.

I didn't say they were. I said the "greatest locks" would be Mo'Nique and Carey Mulligan. What I meant is they are not necessarily locks yet, but the closest to possible locks. Sorry if that didn't come off right...

Just seen the link bocaboy7 and I watch the Youtube clip and I am intrigued by this movie. The thing that worries me that it might be forgotten by "Award Season" 09/10. But like I said I am interested and this ensemble looks awesome. I've been a fan of Mo'Nique since The Parkers! So if she can add Oscar nominee to her resume I would be so happy and proud of her. and Gabourey Sidibe is definitly someone to wtch out for too. Here's her audition tape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...PU6w&feature=related

There was a preview for this before Madea Goes To Jail. Not much dialogue. Lots of silent clips with a song playing behind it. But the images were pretty powerful. I'm eager to see it.
The first thing on screen was Oprah and Tyler Perry Present. Can't remember if TWC was mentioned on there or not. But the title was "Precious" underneath it was "based on the novel Push: by Sapphire"

Haha I was gonna post that. I saw Madea on Friday and saw that preview. My friend and I were eager to see Push Precious too, and the the preview convinced us even more

I am really looking forward to seeing this film. Sherri Shepard from The View is in it and others too so I cannot wait to see this. I hear it is pretty powerful and moving.
I also saw what I would call a teaser trailer for PRECIOUS this past weekend before Madea Goes To Jail. FYI, the trailer made it very clear that this was a LIONSGATE film. Also, the audience I saw the film with (which was mostly African-American) all seemed to respond really well to the trailer. Having witnessed this, I think it was a pretty smart idea to have Tyler Perry's name connected to the film.
