Faye Dunaway - I think she had a slam dunk trifecta in Chinatown, Bonnie and Clyde, and Network.
Also Holly Hunter has The Piano and Broadcast News.

That's one I thought of. Faye Dunaway is such an interesting case because she was in three films that were masterpieces, and yet she was only in good films for about a decade(68-76) with a few good roles every once in a while after that.
A complete delight!!!! Of course Meryl was excellent and Adams was good as well. The men deserve some props as well; I had so much fun I might pay to see this again.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is cooking up a feast of extras for the Dec. 8 (order date Nov. 5) home video release of the culinary comedy Julie & Julia.
Both the DVD ($28.96) and Blu-ray ($39.95) of the film will include commentary with writer-director Nora Ephron and the behind-the-scenes featurette “Secret Ingredients: Creating Julie & Julia.”
Exclusive Blu-ray extras include the featurette “Family & Friends Remember Julia Child,” in which Child is remembered by those who knew her best; “Julia’s Kitchen,” a tour of Child’s kitchen at the Smithsonian; cooking lessons from master chefs; and movieIQ, which allows viewers to access recipes mentioned in the film.
Julie & Julia stars Meryl Streep as Julia Child learning the art of French cooking, and Amy Adams as a modern blogger attempting to emulate Child by making all the recipes in her cookbook in one year. It grossed $91 million at the domestic box office.
Like I predicted a couple months ago - Sony would aim the DVD sale so they could have its advertising (which likely includes TV, particularly in the LA/NY markets) serve double duty as Oscar advertising.
Dec 8 is a bit late to qualify as a "Xmas" DVD release (since much shopping is done earlier). The date was chosen to maximize Oscar attention.
Streep is great in it and should deserve an Oscar nomination this year and possibly the win (although if that's the case it wont be the strongest year for lead actresses). Tucci was good but I wouldn't give him a nomination. I am usually a huge fan of Amy Adams but here she just dosn't match Streep's brilliance and her character is annoying (although the husband is more so). I don't balme Adams for this as she was able to hold her own against Streep (she was actually better) in Doubt last year. It is the writers fault.
This is my problem with the film the writing for the Julie storyline is terrible. For the first half of the film me and my mate I was sitting next to laughed/groaned at pretty much every line in the Julie section. The Julia section is much better written and the more enjoyable story. Although unlike others have suggested I still wouldn't have scrapped to Julie story in favor of a Julia Child film. It is the layering of the two stories that gives this film a voice that stands out from the standard boring biopic film. The Julie story still had me interested it was just poorly written, although the scene where she finds out about Julia Child's reaction to her blog is a strong moment. The direction of the film is good but nothing amazing.
The part of the film that got the biggest laugh from me and my friends although not necicerily in a good way was at the end when the scrolling tect says "it was turned into a movie". I thought the funniest part of the film was the Dan Ackroyd SNL sketch (I'll assume he can't get a nomination for supporting actor) although Streep was a riot.
I wouldn't say this is best picture material (although with 10 noms it's any guess as to what the standard will be now - I'd be surprised if there isn't at least 1 worse film nominated) but it is fun and a film worth seeing for Streep which should probably be it's sole nomination. Adams was better in Sunshine Cleaning, which also had problems with the writing, so if she is nodded this year it should be for that.
