It is great that this community is growing. It is obvious the Tina Fey thing will add a lot of new people. New members can't be expected to understand all the nuances, and YET could be misunderstood. But there needs to be a balance of the old and the new. We have a pretty solid group here, things can get a bit heated and rowdy sometimes, but if the balance changes too much, it won't be the same place most of us enjoy driving a lot of traffic to.

I will say again that in no way did Your English Teacher deserve to be banned. Especially compared to other far nastier posters who are not joking in their comments. She brings a great deal of levity to the site and Pucifier is right in calling her "iconic". She is one of the reasons a lot of people enjoy spending time on this site.

I'm not piling on, and I have not read any of the other posts on this thread but I am referring to the name of the topic.
Why should anyone apologize to Tina Fey for stating how they feel about here on this website. That's one of the reasons the Internet is for. So her feelings got a little hurt. Minor bumps in the road for someone who had a phenomenal year in comedy and in the press. She's had her ass kissed all over the place and if it wasn't for the s*** she took here, she would not have given such a memorable speech.
This reminds of the time years ago, when people criticized Joan & Melissa Rivers at their peak of popularity on the red carpet and they went to Tom and said to take the comments down, and for him to get people to stop saying mean things about them here. Meanwhile, look at all the s*** they were saying about celebrities on the red carpet and on their fashion police shows. Utterly ridiculous, like the title of this thread.
Last night when I read that Tom apologized to TF, I didn't know if it was genuine, if he was ass-kissing or just trying to take credit for his website being the offending site where her detractors were. Anyway I cringed when I read that because, really, TF is a very famous, very rich woman, who has seemingly gotten used to all her high praise this past year. So she has a little adversity. It's good for her. It will just make her funnier.

It was a gag - it was the silly Golden Globes - she never would have done it at the Emmys or Oscars - that's what people do at GGs (or used to; didn't see the show, but from what I hear it was deadsville otherwise). I too cringe at the idea of apologizing.

If Tina Fey did not have thick skin and a sense of humor about it she would not have mentioned the ribbing she takes on television. If nasty chatter on this site really bothered her she would not have brought it up because that chatter was just going to rise once she mentioned the site. It has even become news on other entertainment sites and even some news sources. She is joking and can take whatever people want to throw at her.

Tina Fey has every right to say, Suck It to several poster(s) who have been relentlessly badgering her ad infinitum, and with no discernable reason put forward. I dont think she was expecting any apology; and I certainly dont blame her at all for telling these particular two to Suck It. That for me, was a hilarious moment.

Scarily, it seems like some people are channeling their anger at Sarah Palin's (deserved) loss into hatred directed at Tina Fey.
Barack Obama's win is the best thing that could have happened to this country. Had McCain/Palin won, it would have been like four more years of George W. Bush, or worse, given the catastrophic state of the economy.
English Teacher bashed Tina in this thread with some REALLY nasty stuff, totally over the top and -- her worst sin of all -- it wasn't funny -- she even flamed Tina with the f word. Given the sensitivity of this topic we're discussing, the reputation of the L.A. Times and the opinion of someone we all admire like Tina Fey (disagree with her all you want, but she has a point), Teacher FLUNKED
I dont think Palin has anything to do with anything that was said about Fey by the people she named.
And for the 50th time, one of the people she named, BabsonLacrosse, was a fan of hers and didnt even say anything bad about her and in fact defended her against Dianefan!
So lets not let facts or anything get in the way of being all houlier than thou.

And you know this after reading a couple of excerpts from La Babson and 4 posts? Who are you?

Well maybe you and your 2838 posts can enlighten me as to where Babs trashed Tina because I clicking on his/her posting history couldnt see it. In fact, I found a post, as did the Daily News and Gawker, from Dec 14th that shows Babs calling Tina Fey one of the greatest comedic actresses on TV defending her against named Dianefan. Babs also was arguing for Jane Krakowski to have been nominated and had a FYC- 30 Rock in his signature.
I and my 4 posts found that intriguing seeing those were the people named and one of them is clearly a fan of 30 Rock.

You continue to be one of the dumbest people on a message board, anywhere. I'll never forget your "Harry Potter deserves Best Picture" campaign in 2002 on Oscarwatch.

Originally posted by 742: Whether Fey deserves an apology depends on the nature of the criticisms. I am not well versed in the opinions and previous postings over BabsonLacrosse, dianefan, or cougar-letter concerning "30 Rock," so I can't say. To simply say that you don't like the show or performance isn't enough, and I'd say Fey should grow a thicker skin. But saying that Fey has a "smug smile," as she claimed dianefan said, does step over a line into unfair mean-spiritedness.
As for the controversy in general, it's thrilling to see evidence of the impact we make in Hollywood, though I'd rather it be evidence of the good rather than the bad. For instance, if anybody wins an Emmy, Oscar, Globe, etc. and thanks "742 for his tireless support," I could die happy.
I agree with all you said, all i know is if Susan Lucci or Erika Slezak ever wins another daytime emmy and were to say "and thanks to boidiva02 for his unwavering support" i would die happy!

Actually, I think the anonymous forum - as much as it can lead to over the top comments and nastiness - is valuable for creative types who have thick enough skins and self-confidence (which I suspect Fey does).
I almost never go to the other threads. Are they substantially nastier? That's the impression I've gotten. The Oscar thread seems to be relatively civilized, and actually with the core of many smart regular posters seems much reasonably mature.
I think the Grammy forums tends to be the worst thread, it's filled with threads that turn into nothing more than attacks on other posters and one certain celebrities. I think that overall the whole site is pretty tame except for a few jerks that try to ruin the fun for everyone.

unless she acknowledges that dlanefan and cougar-letter (aka Longoria and cougar-lover among others) are the same person lol
I'm so confused? Why did my name come up?!?
so sorry Longoria!
I must have mistook you for one of dlanefan's other guises but I'm sure he had one concerning Eva Longoria (evalongoriarules I think it was or somethiong like that).
dianefan you can REALLY SUCK IT for making me confused about your ever-changing username!

If Tina's still knocking around here, I only came on to ask if she can, at some point soon, tell the press whether or not Tracy's Series speech was more or less planned or totally off the cuff, because it was absolutely brilliant, and if he just improv'd that whole rant, then my respect for him is totally doubled. (Though sadly he *could've* gotten much Emmy love for S1 if he hadn't submitted himself in Lead. Better luck to him this year; he really deserves it.)
Oh, um...and if you ever leave your husband and wanna date someone who's essentially a more fun Toofer who drinks too much wine and has a strange obsession with Town House crackers...ya know. Look a brotha up.
