As you see films throughout 2008, use this thread to keep your favorites organized. Edit as you go, and offer up your favorite (and least favorite) films, performances, directors, music, etc.

Make sure that you don't include movies that you happened to see in 2008 but were releases from earlier years. This thread is strictly for films that are released for the first time in 2008.

As it may get frustrating having to check the American release date of every movie I see in 2008, I will go by Australian release dates (but will still restrict it to 2008 releases):

Jan 6 - LUST, CAUTION: 8/10
Jan 9 - JUNO: 8/10
Jan 18 - AMERICAN GANGSTER: 8/10
Jan 25 - WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY: 7/10
Jan 26 - SWEENEY TODD: 8/10
Jan 29 - I AM LEGEND: 8/10
Jan 30 - THE WATER HORSE: 8/10

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

Best Documentary Oscar: FORBIDDEN LIE$

Winner: Best Doco - AFI, Australian Film Critics Circle. Best Non-fiction Screenplay, WGA (Silverdocs)

I want to see:

The Dark Knight
Vantage Point
Mamma Mia!
Revolutionary Road (possible Oscar win for Kate Winslet?)

And the films I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole:

Fool's Gold (I guess Matthew McConaughey's abs get him the job now)
The Hottie & the Nottie (Seriously, why?)

MOVIES I'M MOST EXCITED ABOUT:
Wall-E
Revolutionary Road
Choke

I would love to see Kate Winslet win this year, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what other actresses deliver.
