I was thinking I would start a massive GD-wide poll for Female Performances, Male Performances and Films. It isn't Oscar season yet and the forums are slow.

I'll collect ballots for three weeks and then I'll make the list.

Ballots will be counted at midnight on the 1st of August (Eastern Time). Please send in your ballots before then.

The rules for making your ballots:

Choose your Top 20 female performances of the decade (THIS decade). Rank them from 1-20. Your #1 will get 20 points, your #20 will get 1 point, and so on. Also choose five alternates, these will get half a point each.

PERFORMANCES INCLUDED ON YOUR LIST MUST HAVE BEEN RELEASED IN AMERICA BETWEEN THE YEARS 2000 AND 2009. IF YOU LIVE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY AND THEREFORE GOT SOME 1999 AND 1998 MOVIES LATER THAN OTHER COUNTRIES DID, PLEASE CHECK IMDB TO ASCERTAIN THE AMERICAN RELEASE DATE FOR THE FILMS IN QUESTION. I WILL REPLY TO YOUR PM TO TELL YOU WHICH PERFORMANCES ARE INELIGIBLE FOR THE LIST (FOR THIS REASON) SO YOU CAN CHANGE THEM ACCORDINGLY.

As so:

1. 20pts
2. 19pts
3. 18pts
4. 17pts
5. 16pts
6. 15pts
7. 14pts
8. 13pts
9. 12pts
10. 11pts
11. 10pts
12. 9pts
13. 8pts
14. 7pts
15. 6pts
16. 5pts
17. 4pts
18. 3pts
19. 2pts
20. 1pt

ALT. 0.5pts
ALT. 0.5pts
ALT. 0.5pts
ALT. 0.5pts
ALT. 0.5pts

Post in this thread when you have sent in your ballot. It will be bumped if it reaches the bottom of the page. Every day I will make a post showing whose ballots I have received (I won't provide any other information about the ballots).

Post FYCs in this thread for female performances you'd like other people to remember when they are organizing their ballots!

After I have finished counting the ballots, I will create a new thread for the LIVE unveiling of the LIST!!!!!!

For the entries in the list, I would love to have some small blurbs about the perfs or some info regarding them, so if you wanted to put little comments in with your ballot choices, that would be great. But this isn't compulsory. Wink

Hopefully a lot of people do this, so that we can make this as inclusive of everyone on GD as possible. So, if you are a regular poster on these forums, don't just "forget" to send in a ballot! Take the five minutes necessary to compile your 25 favorite female perfs of the decade!

Bear in mind that "Female Performances" encompasses supporting performances as well. Don't just list lead performances!

I love Bjork's performance in Dancer in the Dark and I second the FYC. Unfortunately she just missed the cut for my ballot!

puxzkkx, why do I have this feeling that this list will be more of your list than Gold Derby's list? dunno And it's nothing against you though... (I kinda mean this in a good way...)

Why do I have this feeling that you're insulting me? Thanks for the concern, but implications of crookedness don't sit well with me.

    Regardless, send in your ballots!

I'm not the kind of person to rig the votes. The entire point of this poll is to get an accurate portrait of the GD groupthink. If I wanted to make a list of my own personal favorites, I'd just do it myself on Excel!

I don't understand why my alternative would get 9 more points then my 11th choice, and so on. Why do all alternatives get 10 points? That seems quite excessive.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to insult you. I was just wondering how you were going to come up with the lists if you get all these ballots with all of of these different names... that's all... and then I saw your huge FYC list and was wondering how it was going to work if everyone has a big list with all different names on it... But whatever! This seems exciting and I will try and get my ballot on soon. And again, I'm really sorry, I really wasn't trying to insult you!
