Although, as of your post, one of these two had found a placing on someone's list.

I am going to guess that no one has voted for Theron in North Country or Dench in Mrs. Henderson Presents.
...or Catalina Sandino Moreno.
I haven't sent in my votes yet, but Sandino Moreno will certainly be on my list.
She is on my list too.
I would have guessed Judi Dench in Mrs. Henderson Presents too, but maybe that's the performance that someone just sent in. It's okay, but I don't think remember any posters ever rooting for that performance at all. I know that some posters were rooting for Blanchett's performance in The Golden Age, that there were some hardcore Keaton defenders in the actress battle royale that year between her, Charlie Theron, and Naomi Watts, and there were one or two people that did love Samantha Morton in In America way back when. I don't see them anymore, so I'm not sure if they're still here or if they're posting under a different name like I am (because I forgot my password and had problems getting it sent to my new e-mail address).
FYC: Catalina Sandino Moreno, Maria Full of Grace Laura Linney, You Can Count on Me Julie Christie, Away from Her Amy Adams, Enchanted
Ellen Burstyn - Requiem for a Dream Charlize Theron - Monster Miranda Richardson - Spider Imelda Staunton - Vera Drake Geraldine McEwan - The Magdalene Sisters Michelle Williams - Wendy & Lucy Meryl Streep - The Devil Wears Prada Lynn Redgrave - Kinsey Rinko Kicuchi - Babel Julianne Moore - Far From Heaven Carmen Maura - Volver Isabelle Huppert - The Piano Teacher Gong Li - Memoirs of a Geisha Melissa Leo - Frozen River Tilda Swinton - The Deep End Viola Davis - Doubt Naomi Watts - Mulholland Drive Maggie Cheung - Clean Amy Ryan - Gone Baby Gone Helen Mirren - Gosford Park

Not submitting a list, but I sure hope someone mentions what I consider to be the best English-language performance of the decade -
Cate Blanchett/Little Fish (2005)
It's staggering how it can be that one of the best actresses of her time gives her greatest performance of her career and many well-informed people here haven't seen the film.
Cate Blanchett narrowly missed my list. She's actually my runner-up for Best Actress in 2005 (she loses to Q'orianka Kilcher in "The New World"). I do agree that its the best performance she has given.
"Little Fish" is a great film and features noteworthy performances from Hugo Weaving and Noni Hazlehurst, as well.
Seanflynn, you SHOULD submit a list, and put Blanchett as your #1. She's been named for 6 of her 2000s performances already, but Little Fish isn't one of them. I know you've expressed your disdain for this idea earlier in the thread, but the point of these lists is to monitor how a consensus is formed in a community such as this, and because you are one of the most prominent posters on these forums and because your opinions seem to be influential here your input would be appreciated. There's still two weeks to decide, so think about it - I implore you to give it a go.

28 performances have been named on either 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 ballots. 23 of these performances were at the very least NOMINATED. 9 of these performances either won, got nominated, or were campaigned as SUPPORTING performances.
13 performances have been named on 10 or above ballots. 12 of these performances were at the very least NOMINATED. 2 of these performances either won, got nominated, or were campaigned as SUPPORTING performances.
The highest amount of ballots a performance has been named on so far is 17.
Have fun! Remember, the performance with the highest amount of ballots is NOT necessarily the performance with the highest amount of points!

Yup! Blanchett's really good in Little Fish, particularly the loan rejection scene is crazy intense.
As for the gender disvision debate, I went back 5 years to see what my 5 fave leading performances list would look like: 2008: Blanchett, Hathaway, Leo, Pitt, Rourke (3W + 2M) 2007: Depp, Langella, McAvoy, Marinca, Pinsent (4W + 6M) 2006: Cruz, Gyllenhaal, Muhe, Owen, Takakura (6W + 9M) 2005: Blanchett,Fiennes, Knightley, Lee Jones, Strathairn (8W + 12M) 2004: Cheadle, Delpy, Roberts, Swank, Thurman (12W + 13M)
Pretty close I'd say.
"Deadwood was defiantly and noisily unlike anything else on television.", Tom Shales "It’s very rare to see a television show that revolves around three generations of strong, smart, opinionated women, let alone one that was so well written and acted...Gilmore Girls! TV is going to be a lot less witty without you", Roxanne Connolly
I'd say that women would come out on top for me in every year so far this decade but 2004 and maybe 2005. Even an insanely good year for men (such as 2007) the amazing crop of women outranks them

I haven't sent in my votes yet, but Sandino Moreno will certainly be on my list.
I wasn't insinuating that she wouldn't be deserving. I just figured most people would forget about her performance. Glad you have her on your list, though.
