Fritz, are you dating the performances' years or the ceremony year (by 2001 do you mean berry, spacek, kidman, dench and zellweger or roberts, burstyn, linney, allen and binoche?)

The performance's year (2004 is Swank and Bening etc, 2001 is Kidman, Spacek etc)...

Ny absolute favorite is 1983- Jane Alexander in Testament, Shirley Maclaine in Terms of Endearment, Meryl Streep in Silkwood, Julie Walters in Educating Rita, and Debra Winger in Terms of Enderment. I loved all of those ladies and thought they were all brilliant and very very different.

The other years where I basically loved all of the 5 nominees in the category were 2006 (Mirren), 1996 (McDormand), 1995 (Sarandon, 1993 (Hunter), 1988 (Foster in The Accused), 1987 (Cher), 1985 (Page), 1982 (Streep), 1981 (Hepburn), 1979 (Field in Norma Rae), 1978 (Fonda in COming Home), 1962 (Bancroft), 1950 (Holliday), 1939 (Leigh)

Yea 1988 was a great ear for Best Actress - all five could have won. 2002 was a great year since three out of the five ( Kidman, Moore, and Zelweger) were basically in a three way tie.
