Yes, while I know they're all going to be grouped together by some just because they've been in a lot of movies together or in the same types of movies, I don't have a problem with Paul Rudd being there because he's been around a long time, and is a dependable character actor.
I also don't have a problem with Seth Rogen making it in because I think he can be a talented actor, and he's involved in screenwriting.
However, I don't like Michael Cera being invited. Maybe when I had goodwill towards him because of Arrested Development, but then he seemed like he was above coming back for the movie at all. Plus, his one character acting is really starting to wear thin now. I just hope that Cera getting in doesn't mean that they're going to invite Jonah Hill who is even more one note than Cera.

I know she wouldn't be. I just mean long term it would be a nice placement given how impressive her directing debut was and how nice it would be to have additional female directors.
Yes, it would have been nice MysteriousRent even if unlikely. I would have also have liked to see Jenny Lumet be invited into the writer's branch, but that was unlikely given that she wasn't nominated, and doesn't have much on her CV yet.
They should have invited Sally Hawkins. You know, to ever so slightly compensate for snubbing the most brilliant, critically-acclaimed performance of the year.
Yeah, I'm still upset over that...Poor Sally

Being nominated used to be a sure-fire way to get an invitation, correct? Does anyone know when the Academy decided earning a nomination would not guarantee an invite?

Sorry, but Tyler Perry is eminently qualified to be a member. And I doubt that Woody Allen has a problem with it, unless you are suggesting he is racist.

"I'd never join a club that would allow a person like me to become a member." --Woody Allen quoting Groucho Marx.
I am not referring only to Tyler Perry, among the new invites, so you can stop your race baiting.
