21 films listed, and still none mentioned:

Public Enemies
Julie and Julia
The Last Station
A Single Man
White Ribbon
500 Days of Summer

just for starters.

I really believe - since we are in unchartered territory - the list of possible nominees will still be around 25 just before they are announced.

winner To Tom, tried posting these on here but it went into cyberspace? & replied to ya' on FaceBoook & hope you got it-(please let me know?) dunno It was in regard to "Amelia" & am now inclined to agree with you on it now not being a big contender, though certain to snag a few tech. shots. & did already post my ultra-early predictions of just the top 6 majors already on this superb site. (NOTE: Will there be another contest? I won in Variety as it's annual "OSCAR-ORACLE TITLE" for The 75th Annual ACADEMY AWARDS & though it's supervisor allowed me in to defend that title for 03-(Sarah/Michelle), which I did & again shoulda' took the title. However she failed to include name on winners list? Anyway, my (28th year) at odds-making *OSCAR & strongly split with fellow pundits that forecast "District 9" & "ST" to make final-cut!-(though the latter likely to snag tech. noms) Both Mr. 0'Neil & EW magazine arguably among finest handicappers!
& again, my early predix for BP 2009 OSCARS?-(subject to change until 7 days prior to official announcent on Feb. 2nd, 2009):
"AN EDUCATION"
"THE HURT LOCKER"-(likely to win sev. Pre-OSCAR Critics Awards)
"INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS"
"INVICTUS"
"THE LOVELY BONES"
"NINE"-(& likely to lead the field with most overall noms.)
"PRECIOUS"
"A SERIOUS MAN"
"UP"
& "UP IN THE AIR"

Thank You

To SeanFlynn, was curious about your name & or handle?
Is it to do with Errol Flynn-(l909-1959), Sherilyn Fenn, *Sean Penn, etc or just your name?
Please let me know

& was "W. Ribbon' submitted for Best F. Film?

& though "Julie & Julia" (**1/2-out of four) will be A BLOW-OUT for *"Marvelous Meryl" in finally winning her #3rd *GOLDEN-BOY!-(& as you know her astonishing record #16th nomination. Closest to her now, both>*Kate Hepburn & Jack Nicholson with 12 each.)
We split here in it also being a BP contender though.

Though please let me know on whom you think-(despite it being ultra-early) will win the acting categories?
& of course above cited HANDLE?

THANX J.S. dunno

Sean Flynn was the son of Errol Flynn, raised by his mother, French actress Lila Dimita, in Florida.

He was friends as a teenager with George Hamilton (their mothers were close), and he was given a bit role in Where the Boys Are.

When Errol died and his autobiography became a posthumous bestseller, a producer who had worked with his dad cast him in a Spanish/Italian sequel called The Son of Captain Blood. Though not interesting much as a film, it introduced a staggeringly good looking young actor to the world (he was only 22 or so).

He followed with a series of European action films, few of any note. He used this to finance a series of careers that were real-life action activities (unlike the fake heroics of a movie star) - going on safaris, then becoming a war photographer.

It was as the latter that he spent most of the late 1960s, primarily in Vietnam. (This has been written about in a couple of books, shown in a BBC documentary and later a TV miniseries in which he was played by Kevin Dillon). He followed US troops during the illegal invasion of Cambodia. He was captured by the Khymer Rouge, held prisoner, and most likely executed by them some months later.

There are a couple of projects in pre-production about him, including one written by John Milius.

The current teenage Sean Flynn of TV cable fame is his nephew (he changed his name to Flynn; his mother is Sean's step-sister).

I tend to appreciate a wide variety of physical types, but I can't say I've ever seen a more beautiful looking man.
