Sorry if this has been discussed here before, I looked through some old threads and couldn't find anything so I thought I'd start a topic: who are some actors who you hope will one day win an Oscar?
For me, it's Amy Ryan. She was snubbed for Gone Baby Gone, and I wish her the best of luck in future roles. What about all of you?
i'd love to see Winona Ryder, Drew Barrymoore or Sarah Polley win an Oscar someday and would love to see Ben Affleck nominated for acting. Lastly i'd like to see Barbra Striesand honored for a directing effort, assuming she ever directs a film again.
I'd also love to see Bette Midler get one more really juicy Oscar-Baity role before her career ends.
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

Glad I don't have to mention Kate Winslet anymore!
I'm all for Joseph Gordon Levitt as well!
Other names that come to mind (previously nominated or not):
January Jones Anne Hathaway Amy Adams Richard Jenkins Tina Fey (probably for screenplay though...) Betty White (we all know why... ) Julianne Moore Jon Hamm Amy Ryan Leonardo DiCaprio (it will probably happen some day whether you like it or not... probably the same for Brad Pitt...) John Krasinski Regina King Oprah Winfrey Tyler Perry Hope Davis Sigourney Weaver
And I'm sure other posters will mention names as well, and I'll be like "why didn't I think of that?..."

I 100% agree with the mentions of Jake Gyllenhalal and Michelle Williams!
I would also add Michelle Phiffer, Lauren Becall, Sigoruney Weaver and Candice Bergen to that list!
It would also be nice to see Jodie Foster and Jane Fonda get another chance to shine at Oscar!
and i feel it would also be nice to see Demi Moore get an Oscar Nomination, i believe she is very long overdue... But for that to happen she'd have to start taking part in more ambitious projects that carry more weight.

^^ I'm assuming you're a West Wing fan... (Janney, Sheen, and Channing)

I am. But, I'm also a big fan of the film work that Channing and Sheen have done. Sheen should have been nommed for 'Apocalypse Now' and 'Wall Street'. And, I wouldn't have minded seeing Stockard Channing win when she was nominated for Six Degrees. I also think she should have been nommed/won in 2001 for 'The Business of Strangers'. But, the West Wing afforded both those actors and Janney too a chance to give really Oscar-Worthy performances.

Yes, too bad she spends all her time watching over Ashton, and smacking around any poor young thing that gives him a double take with her rolled-up newspaper.
