G’Day, Sorry, this is very late but living in Australia meant it took longer to see some films (I still haven’t seen as many as I would like). Hopefully this time of year will mean this doesn’t clutter the forum up as much.
This is my 3rd film awards. Nods selected from all films eligible for the 2008 Oscars (81st). Category placement was decided by me.
Usually I ask you guys to vote for winners but due to last year’s lack of response coupled with the lateness of these I won’t bother this year. However I am still on the fence with some categories so feel free to make the case for your favourites. I will take any comments under consideration (especially in those undecided categories). I’ll post winners in about a week.

Thanks babypook, I found it so hard choosing between Dark Knight and WALL-E for best picture and director (they kept on switching in my mind).
Well my US trip was released on youtube this year so who knows you may see it pop up at my 4th anual film awards. (in all seriousness a film needs to be eligible for the oscars to get nominated for a Noble).

Not sure I agree PSH was a lead in Doubt. He was a huge presecnese but just didn't have the screentime, especially with Adams playing co-lead to Streep.
But, it's really great to see Kate Beckinsale here. She should have been nommed for an Oscar, it sucks that she didn't get a campaign. And even though i wouldn't have nominated her, I LOVED Rebecca Hall in "VCB" and thought she was miles better than ScarJo and was on par(or slightly less) than Penlope Cruz(who I consider the BSA of last year).
I always like seeing that other people agree with me about Melissa Leo.
Also, while I didn't like Wall-E at all, I appreciate the recognition that animated films actually have directors. Too bad Hollywood hasn't seemed to figure this out yet.
G'Day, G.Penn Hoffman was just as lead as Streep in Doubt in my opinion. Adams did have quite a bit of screentime but was more a background device to the story with the focus being on Streep and Hoffman.
Yeah I liked Beckinsale and Hall but was least confident in my lead actress line-up. Leo was the only one I really loved in my group. I missed a few key performances there which is a shame. I did think Cruz was the standout in VCB but prefered the Doubt ladies.
Glad you liked the Leo mention MysteriousRent, she was so good in the film and Frozen River came so close to a picture and director nod. Also respect on your WALL-E comments. I feel so strongly that Pixar is just producing films at the very top level and the fact that the academy hasn't realised that is a huge shame.
As promised here is my list of winners for those who didn't want to go to the blog:
