At the risk of sounding churlish, well, what the hell, that old "comedians get no respect" routine is tiresome, and false. Oscar does recognize comedic performances, such as Roberto Benigni in La Vita è Bella (1999), which, if anything, was Chaplinesque, or more recently, Alan Arkin in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), which was, well, Arkinesque. I am glad we got two more acceptance speeches up; we all sent in requests back in June and didn't get ANYTHING for all this time....hopefully they will be on some sort of a ball the next few weeks.
