Two of my favorite Oscar moments. We need more musical performances like these. Great way for the Academy to laugh at itself.

At the risk of sounding churlish, well, what the hell, that old "comedians get no respect" routine is tiresome, and false. Oscar does recognize comedic performances, such as Roberto Benigni in La Vita è Bella (1999), which, if anything, was Chaplinesque, or more recently, Alan Arkin in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), which was, well, Arkinesque. Will Ferrell and Jack Black may be diminished by their fortuitous transitions to the big screen, but I bet they are crying all the way to the bank.

Oscar likes a bit of range when it comes to the comedians. If you're comedic, do a sob-fest serious drama and you'll strike gold.

I am glad we got two more acceptance speeches up; we all sent in requests back in June and didn't get ANYTHING for all this time....hopefully they will be on some sort of a ball the next few weeks.

I just went to youtube and the whole Oscar site is still there...

My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.

I am really glad I got to see some of these, like Issac Hayes, Jessica Lange, Lee Grant, and especially Linda Hunt's.

I am still awaiting to see Beatrice Straight's win which I requested way back in May.

Here's a video of Maggie Smith winning her oscar for California Suite.
One of the most deserved awards in that category.
