Great news for Dark Knight. Sadly Wall*E couldn't make the cut, but I'm happy Dark Knight did. Looks good for the Oscars. Happy for Slumdog, Milk, and Ben Button. Wall*E or The Wrestler should've taken Frost/Nixon's spot, but oh well.
Damn. I knew F/N would get in over Wall-E. Pretty bummed about that. But overall this is a nice list. I think we're looking at the Best Picture line-up right here.

I think it goes along the lines of what these award shows go by. Personally, I think Wall*E or The Wrestler should make the cut over F/N. Just my opinion.
Was WALL-E elligable nor a nomination in the big category? I know there was speculation thats it was not. I still have faith that F/N will be out and WALL-E will be in come nomination day.

Frost/Nixon maybe seem like a weak link to us, but consider how many older voters the AMPAS has. Many of them will certainly relate to this piece of history. I'm still hoping for a Wall-E upset with either The Dark Knight, Milk, or Frost/Nixon. I don't think Slumdog Millionaire or Curious Case can be bumped off at this point.
I do not want to disappoint our Japanese public, especially Godzilla. Hahaha! I'm just kidding, I know he doesn't care what humans do.
Since 2000 there has been at least one film that doesn't make the Academy's Short List
2007- Diving Bell and the Butterfly 2006- Dreamgirls 2005- Walk the Line 2004- The Incredibles 2003- Cold Mountain, Last Samurai 2002- Adaptation, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Road to Perdition 2001- Harry Potter, Shrek 2000- Billy Elliot

I think so too, which is sad considering the WALL*E snub.
However, as we all know, there is usually a director nominated whose film wasn't. As I've proposed before, does anyone think that Andrew Stanton could beat the odds and grab that fifth slot? I mean, at this point, he's as good a choice as anyone.

One of the big reasons that I have had trouble predicting Frost/Nixon is the Academy's recent aversion to movies based on plays. The last time a movie based on a non-musical play was nominated for Best Picture was A Few Good Men. Probably doesn't mean a lot, but these things haven't been nominated in recent years.

I don't think so. Unfortunately there seems to be an idea that animated films direct themselves. Look at all of the critics awards for Wall-E this year - and Stanton has basically been ignored. I think it will be much harder for him to break through that the film itself.
It's unfortunate. I would much rather Stanton be nominated than the film itself.
