I have correctly predicted the winner of the Record of the Year Grammy even before the nominations have been revealed for the past ten years. My family think's I'm psychic when it comes to that one award. I am predicting right now that the winner of the Record of the year Grammy will be Duffy's "Mercy". I also think that her album will be an Album of the year nominee for sure. Let me know what you all think.
Let's save it for Guru. He'll have his contenders thread in a while. And this one will be closed, I guess. Anyways, I hope you're right. Sounds pretty good to me.

I think "Bleeding Love" will be record/song of the year. Are these two separate awards: record & song? Whatever the case may be, I think Leona will at least get nominated for one or both of them.

I don't think it's Leona's nom if it gets a SOTY nom because she didn't write the song.

True, but I wouldn't be surprised if that song gets a nomination in both. What other songs are really worthy for both categories?
"Bleeding Love" sounds like a Record of the Year contender, IMO. Song of the Year is a possibility.

I loudly hope you are right because I truly believe in Duffy and her music and I think "Mercy" is one of the top 5 songs from this decade...the only other song I would be okay with winning is "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay...still my heart is with Duffy!!

"Mercy" is an obvious nominee, but it sounds like "Rehab". Do you think they would give the award to a song that sounds like the previous year's winner? At least "Rehab" was a big hit and had a cultural impact. I think Coldplay will be winning this award.
One thing I will predict will 99.9% certainty is that Leona Lewis will NOT win ROTY! I mean, she has a great voice and all, but let's be real. Voters are not going to hand her one of the more prestigious awards when she brings nothing new (including personality and charisma) to the table that sets her apart from her competition.
Coldplay is the frontrunner, IMO, but I can also see the fact that they won ROTY only a few years back for "Clocks" allowing voters to give it to somebody who hasn't won before (but not Leona!).
"Mercy" would be a good choice, but like mentioned, the comparisons (unjust) to Amy Winehouse may hurt her. But if she can continue to have moderate success in the U.S. with a second single, she might just have a chance.
Looks like I am also gonna be one of the few to predict that Alicia Keys will NOT receive a ROTY OR SOTY nomination for "Like You'll Never See Me Again." I mean, I know NARAS loves her, but the song is pretty much all but forgotten, and will be even more so by nomination time. Her ROTY noms were received for MUCH bigger hits and I see her being left out.
I personally could very well see "Apologize" being a spoiler to win. Timbaland is pretty well respected and put out a great album; the song is a MEGA hit, One Republic was able to follow it up with another hit, and the lead singer also wrote another big hit that will most likely get nominated, "Bleeding Love." It would also give NARAS the opportunity to award an urban/hip-hop artist (Timbaland) for a non-urban/hip hop song since every year there seems to be talk about them not awarding hip hip/urban/R&B artists in this category.. Seriously, I would not count this out from winning.
Madonna could sneak in with "4 minutes," but I doubt it. And even if she does, she won't win. Same goes for "Love In This Club."
"Love Song" and Bubbly" could also end up as surprise nominees, but again, neither will win.
I really can't see who else could possibly win....I think that it could go to a single/artist that isn't even being mentioned right now as well.
Also, if "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" is a big hit this Summer for Mariah Carey, I could see it getting in the line up, as it is one of the stand out tracks on the album, and particularly since her album is still on the short list of AOTY nominee possibilities and she usually has no problem getting the nominations (it's the wins that are tricky for her!)
Just my thoughts.

That will be a sad day. *cries*
I do agree though.

I definitely agree about Leona Lewis. "Bleeding Love" is a surefire ROTY and probably SOTY nominee but I really don't think she will win.
I would agree with you about Alicia Keys not being nominated because it wasn't a big hit, but I think most would agree that As I Am will be an AOTY nominee and I think that will help her get the ROTY or SOTY nomination (or both).
And I strongly believe Mariah Carey will left off the general fields this year. I also don't think "Loving You Long Time" will be this huge hit either.
Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies) Julia Louis Dreyfus (New Adventures of Old Christine) Steve Carell (The Office) Hugh Laurie (House) Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)
