Alanis is currently on tour opening for Matchbox Twenty and plans a US headlining tour in the fall.
I have always loved Alanis, but I have really high hopes for this album. After her last couple of disappointments, I really want this one to be a success.

"Underneath" is a good track. It actually sounded a lot better the second time I heard it. Not sure how well it will bode commercially though. It's not exactly the sound that makes waves in today's mainstream market.
When was the last time Alanis had a hit?

I am anxious for another full-length album from Alanis Morissette. As a fan, I do have to admit that her last studio album was not up-to-par with what she had previously released, but I still yearn to hear any material she releases. Can't wait!

I can't wait for this! Love her. I hope that "Not As We" will eventually be a single. I've loved it ever since I heard it on House. I hope this album bodes very well for her.

Citizen of the Planet, Tapes and Torch are some of her best song writing in many years.
I always thought Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and Under Rug Swept were very underrated.
So-Called Chaos was a disappointment, but every artist has one.
Underneath has grown on me, but is wrong for a first single. I think she should take a risk and release something a bit different (like Citizen of the Planet).

I totally agree. I enjoy these two albums more than I do "Jagged Little Pill." In fact, "Under Rug Swept" has occupied the #1 spot on my list of favorite albums of all time for quite some time now.....

I think Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was just as good, if not better than "Jagged Little Pill".
But I thought "Under Rug Swept" had a great first half and completely fell apart in the second (starting with "A Man". The worst song Alanis has ever done).
And yeah, "So-Called Chaos" was unbelievably bland and formulaic. I couldn't believe an artist who did the uncoventional song construction on SIFJ would follow such a formula 2 albums later.

Agreed.

I disagree a little with some of you on Under Rug Swept. Although I loved the album when it arrived, I think the album felt a bit like Jagged Little Pill (Part 2), but just an updated version. Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was definitely the most original work of Alanis and it was brilliant, yet so different, musically, than her debut, Jagged Little Pill. So, I think Under Rug Swept was an album to kind of close that gap. But with me, Alanis can do no wrong...

It was definitely a bid for relevance. Hopefully she's learned her lesson, though "So-Called Chaos" did have some good songs ("Eight Easy Steps" immediately comes to mind).
I am so excited! I will be seeing Alanis in concert with Matchbox Twenty on Sunday. This will be my 5th time seeing her live and it still has not gotten old...I adore her and her music.

How was the show at The Staples Center? I caught one of the shows on this tour. I went to see Matchbox Twenty but I also like Alanis a great deal and really enjoyed her hour set. She has some really great musicians playing with her and has a very strong live voice. My only complaint is that all the spinning she does can get distracting to the casual fan. This tour wrapped up last night in LV and from what I'm hearing it did pretty well. I also really enjoyed Mute Math. Did you catch their part of the show? Lot's on energy and the lead singer actually does a pretty good job with the vocals (something that is important to me in a live performer).

The show was great! I like Matchbox Twenty, especially their earlier material, but I love Alanis, which is the reason that I went to the show. Though, I have to say, I was definitely pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed Matchbox Twenty's set.
As for Alanis, she never disappoints when I see her live. I loved the songs she chose for her short set. Her voice is absolutely brilliant and her spins are a trademark. It's something I look forward to each time I go to watch her perform at one of her shows. My only complaint is that the set was not long enough, but it is understandable and I'll get to see her again when she tours in support of her upcoming album.
Sadly, I did not get to see Mute Math. I took my seat right before Alanis performed.

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie is one of my favorite albums of all-time. It's Alanis's masterpiece in my opinion. The lyrics are brillant and resonant, and her vocal acrobatics infuse them with such power and nuance. "Joining You", "Would Not Come", "That I Would Be Good", "Can't Not", and the classic "Thank U" are all magnificantly conceived and produced.
Unfortunately, I was unable to catch Matchbox and Alanis together. They are two of my favorite artists. But I will see Matchbox in May at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. So-Called Chaos had it's moments, but overall was a dud, so we are due for a return to form. I'm really looking forward to this record.
