Are there any artists who have won a Grammy immediately following a controversy?

I can only think of two of the top of my head.

Amy Winehouse won 5 Grammys last year despite having tons of negative publicity with her drug use, rehab, and horrible performances.

Whitney Houston cancelled a lot of concert dates, got caught with pot at an airport and was accused of having a drug problem yet still won a Grammy in 1999.

Any others?

Don't forget being a misogynist, which I'm sure offended even more people. But yeah, he won 9 Grammys.

He won a grammy after the first child molestation accusations. He was nominated in several categories for his album "HIStory" for "Scream" and for "You Are Not Alone", winning the grammy for Best Short Form Music Video for "Scream", his thirteenth and (as of 2008) last grammy win. 2001 still stands (as of 2008) his last grammy nod.

Natalie Cole's troubles (she rebounded in 1991).

NARAS had already finished voting by the time of the controversy. So I wouldn't count that.

^^I was thinking that when I typed it. I just wanted to include it. LOL But I didn't think he should have been invited to the Grammys. That's a whole different story for a different day.

Everyone in Africa knows Swedish.

If people I don't even know look at me and want to f*ck me, it means I have a really good shot at being a model.

I agree, Timberlake was a COWARD during the whole thing. He never once stood up for Janet or defended her in fact he stood back and let her take all the blame. She got dis-invited from the Grammys that year while HE was allowed not only to present but won several awards.

I always found it sad that people automatically blamed Janet for the whole thing and never blamed the real source: MTV Networks/CBS who allowed the thing to happen and we all know now that it was indeed planned well ahead of time.

Ron Carvalit, you are my hero!

Man, your post is so full of misinformation it's sad. It's funny to me after all these years that people still buy into Janet's whole victim act when everything she's ever said about the SuperBowl has been one big fat lie. But hey... *sings* What goes around goes around goes around comes all the way back around...

*watches as Janet's third album in a row flops miserably*

I'll give some information that's not "misinformed". Justin is a d!ckhead for what he did and I agree with foolsgarden and Boidiva02. And that, my friend, is a fact.

Oh, and the only thing I believe that isn't a fact is that he won several awards but he did win 2, which shows the incompetence and unfairness of the the Grammy committeee.

Fact? You must not know the definition of the word. The only fact in your post is that you agree with those two. Justin being a d!ckhead for what he "did" is only your opinion. An opinion founded in ignorance, I'm sure.

But that's ok. You all keep hating on Justin while buying into Janet's victim act. Karma has taken care of her already, so I don't need to keep pointing out what a lying, backstabbing, stank ass b!tch she is. You all have a good day now.

Honestly, I got nothing but love for Justin, but I remember when it all happened and I really do feel he should have taken SOME blame for it. SOME. Honestly, he did wimp out. Thats MY opinion though. So, I don't want anyone to think I'm ignorant, its just from MY observation. Deal with it.
