The latest effort by Buddy and Julie Miller, "Written in Chalk", is a great album. Something like "Raising Sand", although definitely more country and less moody. Sonically brilliant. Perhaps Best Country Album?
Can we see the breakthrough of Little Big Town clone Gloriana? Perhaps token best new artist of the year? First single Wild At Heart is catchy as hell.
*I think after taylor winning AOTY at the acm's, that it will help her grab a Country Album nomination at the grammys, and possibly a Country Song nomination. I'm not very confident on a vocal category though, for obvious reasons. *Carrie will get nominated, and more than likely win her 4th female country award. *Brad will likely grab a nomination for Country Male. As will Dierks Bentley, hes been nominated for 5 awards in the past few years, so I wouldnt be shocked.
I think "I Told You So" is gonna be nommed for Best Country Collaboration.
And when that happens, I hope Carrie gets a Best Female Country Vocal Performance nomination (AND WIN) for "Just A Dream". That song features one of Carrie's absolute best vocal work, and she deserves to be recognized for it.
If she can win for "Last Name", then she sure as hell better win for "Just A Dream". I just hope it doesn't get ignored, or overshadowed by Carrie's succeeding singles.
JOSH, I personally think it's way too early to predict the nominees for Best Country Song. I need to see the entry list first, 'cause NARAS loves to throw in some underdogs in this category.
Now I can see Just Dream by Underwood and White Horse by Swift as frontrunners.

I think this is Taylor Swift's year. She will DEFINITELY get cited in a couple categories this year in the country field. The fact that she won Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards when up against George Strait speaks volumes about how the country world is finally embracing Miss Swift as an artist. I expect her to be nominated not only in Country Album (and win), but also in Album of the Year. I also think she's set for a nomination in Country Song for any of her singles. She COULD also sneak into Female Country Vocal Performance, but this is the least likely nomination to happen for her. I really like her vocal on "Crazier" (off the Hannah Montana soundtrack), so you never know, she could suprise us. While she was ignored the last two years by the NARAS country community, I guarantee that this won't happen again. Her situation is very similar to Rihanna's in that it took her two or three years and a couple major crossover hits to finally breakthrough with some Grammy nominations (even though Taylor already has one under her belt).
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak Adele for "Hometown Glory" Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody" The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' " Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"
While I'm iffy on her actual vocal performance, I do think that she deserves some recognition for her lyric-writing. It's as catchy as anything on country radio today.
EDIT: 24fanatic, that was a good call on "Crazier." I listened to it after I read your mention of it, and it definitely plays into her vocals.
But "Fearless" for Album of the Year? You think Grammy is going to go from ignoring her to giving her a near standing 'o' like that?

Actually, yes! Country albums rarely ever get nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys, but Taylor Swift has a lot going for her. Her music is some of the most popular on radio right now (not only on country, but on pop too), she has many hit songs off Fearless, and her album is the biggest selling of any genre this year so far (she just passed the 3 million mark, which is incredible in this horrible CD economy!). Last year, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III was the biggest selling CD of the year and critically acclaimed (much like Swift's Fearless this year) and it made the Album of the Year line-up. If Lil Wayne can get nominated for AOTY, I don't see why Taylor Swift, a WAY more conservative and NARAS-friendly artist, can't!

The fact that she outsold established pop stars like Beyonce and Britney speaks volumes of her appeal without mentioning that Fearless was extremely well received by the critics.
And by the way, she hasn't been that ignored by the Academy so far. Remember that she was nominated for BNA, so at least The Blue Ribbon Panel will recognize her somewhere. Album of The Year seems fitting to me. Does anyone know if they submitted "Love Story" last year? If not, count on it to make it in ROTY and SOTY.

They do love Keith, so it could happen. Had he not released that song, the award would have automatically gone to Brad Paisley, but I thin Keith Urban could win it!

I believe the eligibility end date was change to August 31st.
On a separate not, I'd kinda like to see Blake Shelton sneek into the male vocalist category.
