Originally posted by The Future: As a fan, I'm obviously super excited about the fact that we could have new Britney music as early as 2010, especially considering the fantastic back to back releases of Blackout and Circus.
But I can't help but wonder if after this tour, the girl just needs to rest and do something a little more low-key like guest star on another tv show (maybe something edgier than How I Met Your Mother this time). The whole reason the girl had her meltdown was the unbelievable pace her life was at throughout this decade and then suddenly stopping to have her kids. She finally has some sort of balance in her life, so after the tour she shouldnt be working on yet another album where she needs to spend so much time away from her kids promoting it.
It would make sense if she's recording now till the rest of the year and early next year for a fall 2010 release as opposed to a spring 2010 release, which is what I hope they have in mind.
Britney will still be on tour by the end of 2009. I think it makes the most sense that she'll be re-releasing "Circus".
I don't think a new album will be out by Spring 2010. That's too early.
GimmeBritney.com can exclusively reveal that Britney is planning to release her second Greatest Hits album this year.
The album will feature tracks from Blackout and Circus, plus another 6 new tracks which Britney is said to be in the process of recording. We already know that she's currently in the studio with Max Martin - the guy behind Baby One More Time and If U Seek Amy.
The album is due for release in September to coincide with the 2nd North American leg of her current Circus tour.
I don't understand the purpose of another greatest hits album so soon. If the point is to release new songs from her without having to make a whole new album, then just re-release "Circus" with a few new tracks.
Two albums (one of which had only 3 singles) is too low of a number to release one. She could at the very lest have another single from "Circus", but that won't happen.
I really don't get Jive. Do they really think there will be many people going after it considering most of the songs are "Circus" tracks already? What kind of collection consists minly of ingles from the latest album? I don't get their strategy.

And the thing is Greatest Hits compilations don't sell a lot like they used to in the past. This album will probably go Gold. Other rumors have surfaced at the time they said a Britney Spears compilation album would be coming out that she would release a new full studio album in 4th Quarter 2010 anyways
I hear there will be like 3-4 new tracks on this new release. I'm all for new tracks. But yeah, I don't understand Jive at the moment.

All Hail Britney, Queen of the VMAs! Rob Sheffield on Seven Super Spears Moments
8/5/09, 10:53 am EST
Photo: Gries/Getty Congratulations, Britney! You’re up for seven VMAs this year! It’s a moment of sweet redemption for Britz, because it means she will return once again to the stage where she’s tasted her sugariest highs and her most Xanax-tical lows. Let’s face it, Britney is the VMAs. She’s the reason we watch every year — it’s how we take the temperature of the Britney universe. She was made for this show, and it was made for her.
Watch all of Britney’s videos — with commentary — in our Complete Video Guide.
Once more, Lady B shall take the stage where she suffered the indignity of the 2007 VMAs, where she mumbled, bumbled, and stumbled through a rendition of “Gimme More” that traumatized her fans, bumping into her scared-looking back-up dancers, rocking her spray-painted abs and one of Bret Michaels’ used hairpieces. As people used to say way back in 2007, it was a “fail,” as well as a “hot tranny mess.” (Recall our first reactions in the 2007 VMAs live blog and photos.)
Britz made her return to the VMAs last year, showing she could make the scene as a wholesome, soft-spoken Southern gal, but with all these nominations, she has a chance for an even bigger comeback — not to mention an even bigger celebration of her place as the pop queen of the decade. Nobody should be surprised if she sweeps all seven of her categories, just because “Womanizer” is a seven-times-awesome kind of song, although given that it’s up against heavy hitters like “Single Ladies,” “Poker Face” and “Love Lockdown,” she might want to rehearse her “it’s an honor just to be nominated, y’all” cliche just in case. (Bizarrely, she’s not nominated for Best Female Video, maybe because she’s too much of a woman-woman-womanizer?)
Given that Eminem got a bunch of nominations as well, maybe MTV is just having spasms of 1999 nostalgia. But this a moment for all her fans to savor, wonder why the new category for “Best [Old] Video That Should Have Been A Moonman” doesn’t have a nod for her “Lucky” video, from 2000. That’s a classic. It was her Kid A.
In honor of her seven nods, here are seven of the most epochal Britney VMA moments, the Britzkrieg bops we either remember fondly or bleach our brains trying to forget. Can I get an “it’s Britney, bitch?” Because it’s so Britney, bitch!

Great list. Although Shania Twain seems like an omission.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
I know it's not going to happen, but it'd be nice if the VMAs gave Britney the vanguard award or lifetime achievement award or w/e they give out she's been giving them ratings for 10 years, has been in the industry for 10 years and imo deserves it for any/all previous vma losses where she should have won.
I could see them doing what they did for madonna and having drag queens dressed in Britney's past attire
but being that she's nominated this year i don't see it happening
This article says she isn't performing. I guess someone on her website jumped the gun and said she was. It's cool she is getting that ultimate choice award though.
Britney Spears Not Performing At Teen Choice Awards But she will bag an award… 11:02, Friday, 7 August 2009
Britney Spears will attend the Teen Choice Awards on August 10- but will not perform.
One of Brit’s team had mistakenly announced that she was said to sing at the show on her website.
A later update explained that she would only be appearing to collect an award. The statement said: “We are deeply sorry for any confusion and disappointment and appreciate the ongoing dedication of Britney's wonderful fans.”
Britney is up for three awards at the ceremony- which will be hosted by the Jonas Brothers. Spears will also pick up the Ultimate Choice award to honour her career so far.
Also performing on the night are Black Eyed Peas, Sean Kingston and Miley Cyrus
Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."
"Music is powerful, it's a drug that makes your inhibitions go away and leaves your vulnerabilities exposed" - KC
