Why is "Crack a Bottle" listed under Rap/Sung and Rap Group? There must be a rule against that.

Q-Tip's The Renaissance should win Best Rap Album if nominated. Too bad Eminem has that category locked up. That should be the only category he wins. I don't see much love for him this year.

Gucci, do you think Jay-Z will get into Best Rap Solo Performance for "D.O.A"? If he does, I think he'll probably win.

I think based on name recognition, Jay-Z will get into Rap Solo. However, I think the award is between Drake and Eminem. For now, I'll give the edge to Drake. Do you think Jay-Z deserves to win?

I don't know who I'd pick, but they probably give it to Jay-Z. He has won this category only one and it was for a moderate hit. I can see the same thing happening this year.

For someone who doesn't know much about the field, those are some pretty solid predictions.

I could definitely see most of those happening.

Though if Asher Roth gets nominated in Rap Album, I think I'd cry...from disappointment, that is.

I have seen so much hype about the guy here and there that I just threw his name. LOL.

If "Forever" would have been submitted it would have won Rap/Duo with no problem. Hopefully the song will get the nod next year and win in 2011.

^ I agree.

These aren't my predictions, but rather my PERSONAL picks for each category.

Best Rap Solo Performance:
"Best I Ever Had," Drake
"D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)," Jay-Z
"I Love College," Asher Roth
"Move (If You Wanna)," Mims
"Universal Mind Control," Common

Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group:
"Amazing," Kanye West feat. Young Jeezy
"Halle Berry (She's Fine)," Hurricane Chris & Superstarr
"Stanky Legg," GS Boyz
"Swag Surfin'," F.L.Y. - Fast Life Yungstaz
"Who's Real," Jadakiss feat. Swizz Beatz & OJ Da Juiceman

(The above category boasts a truly horrid list of possible contenders overall. Last year, I could hardly limit my picks to five.)

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration:
"Chopped 'N' Skrewed," T-Pain feat. Ludacris
"Ego," Beyoncé feat. Kanye West
"Knock You Down," Keri Hilson feat. Ne-Yo & Kanye West
"Magnificent," Rick Ross feat. John Legend
"Run This Town," Jay-Z feat. Rihanna & Kanye West

(Expect Kanye West to win this category. He's got two hits and an R&B favorite to flaunt this year. There's no way he's gonna lose this category.)

Best Rap Song:
"Best I Ever Had" (Drake)
"Day 'N' Nite" (Kid Cudi)
"I Love College" (Asher Roth)
"Run This Town" (Jay-Z feat. Rihanna & Kanye West)
"Throw It In The Bag" (Fabolous feat. The-Dream)

Best Rap Album:
Asleep in the Bread Aisle, Asher Roth
Deeper Than Rap, Rick Ross
The Last Kiss, Jadakiss
The Renaissance, Q-Tip
Universal Mind Control, Common

I know that the majority of my picks aren't gonna happen, ESPECIALLY in Rap/Sung. Additionally, there will be A LOT more Eminem in the actual nominations. But can someone please explain to me why "Crack a Bottle" is in Rap/Sung and Rap Duo/Group?

once again, i'm looking at these lists and seeing the best of popular music and not the best overall CDs. As a voting member, I listen to each of the entrants in the categories of which I vote and sure for best rap there are some obvious. I don't think Asher Roth deserves to necessarily get a nod for best of anything. I love college was cool but...thats about it.

Best Rap album do not sleep on the "Q"'s. Q -Tips The Renaissance is VERY VERY SOLID and was mostly slept on by and large. Not even a huge Tribe Called Quest fan or anything I just found it more entertaining than a lot of the others. Q Dot's Underground Railroad blew me away when I heard the samples on iTunes. I live in Seattle and get to see him live quite a bit...no hometown bias, just really, Q Dot's Underground Railroad in my opinion should get a nom, maybe not a win (I think that should go to Common) . But his cut Music is up for Best Solo performance...that song should win. Hands down.

Will it happen? Eh, we'll see. There haven't been many sleepers at the Grammys in the last 10 years or so. So my picks..

Winners:
best rap solo: Q Dot - Music
best rap album: Common - Universal Mind control
best rap perf. by group or duo - Hurricane Chris & Superstar - halle berry
best rap/sung: T-Pain, ludacris -Chopped n Skrewed
