Mike, BITE YOUR TONGUE! Aretha Franklin's performance of Nessun Dorma on the 1998 Grammys is LEGENDARY! (and for the RIGHT reasons).

I would also add Eddie Murphy and Michael Jackson's duet from the early 1990s. It's not my favorite musical momemt. I just mentioned it because it was (and still is) awful....and the music video is even worse.

- Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams falling during a performance of "Soldier" on 106th & Park

- Britney Spears' horrible performance of "Gimme More" at the 2007 MTV VMA's

- Ashlee Simpson lip-synching on Saturday Night Live

- Milli Vanilli's entire career

- Fantasia performing "Bore Me (Yawn)" on American Idol

I don't think Madonna rapping on "American Life" worked for lots of different reasons but I don't think it's as big of an embarrassment as some people have made it out to be. And it's not like she hadn't ever rapped before. I don't know if "Vogue" counts but she did a lot of spoken word songs in the '90s and wasn't there a song she rapped on for Erotica?

Other moments:

- That whole Garth Brooks/Chris Gaines thing.
- Ashlee Simpson on SNL
- Mariah Carey circa 1999-2001

LOL Awww, Fantasia was great! Well not great, but she was exciting lol. That was the only personality that came out this whole season. Anyways the Milli Vanilli one was really bad, so thats my favourite.

Definitely Michelle Williams falling during a performance of "Soldier" on 106th & Park is a classic moment that will never be forgotten.

Mariah going on TRL sans pants, with a picture of her mother for Carson Daly, and giving out ice cream.

Seriously, the best moment on MTV ever.

Or wait, when she was on cribs and she got into her bathtub.

What a mess she was for a while. a great mess.

That was hilarious, also when Beyonce down like 12 stairs, face first in Orlando.

It was hilarious when Kanye caught a huge temper tantrum backstage at the VMAs. It was all over YouTube.

Let's not forget about Mariah's pitch. Nope

Not sure how that is a musical disaster since she clearly is not a pro-baseball player. I mean, did anyone expect her to pitch a strike??!!

God, I still laugh at both of those moments when I watch them on Youtube, On Beyonce's fall you could hear the crowd say "Oh" and "Ah" and when Michelle falls I love the look on Kelly's face it just says "Girl, get your ass up and start shakin' it!" while Beyonce doesn't even notice jumphappy

Well Kevin Federline's album comes to mind...

One time at either the Grammy's or the American Music Awards Whitney Houston referred to Bobby Brown as "The godfather of r&b music" which to me was a horrible moment for her---growing up with C.C. Houston and being exposed as she was to music she should have known who the real godfather's of r&b were

Vanilla Ice trying to explain his using samples in his music/his entire career

when M.C. Hammer tried to release a gangsta rap album---come on you can't go from "u can't touch this" to GANGSTA RAP!

Kelly Clarkson acting like a spoiled brat and trying to say she knows more about music than CLIVE DAVIS... come on Kelly get real...

Ron Carvalit, you are my hero!

OLTL For The Emmy in 2009!

So many great memories of these hilariously awful performances. What about when Jennifer Holliday desperately tried to out-sing Jennifer Hudson on "And I Am Telling You" at the BET Awards last year. She sounded like a cat was being strangled; it was awful!!!!
