2009 Nominees Beyoncé — "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" Britney Spears — "Circus" Coldplay — "Viva la Vida" Green Day — "21 Guns" Lady Gaga — "Paparazzi"
This is the one technical award I'm most intrigued by. See, I KNEW even before they announced the nominees that "Single Ladies" was going to be nominated for this award because black-and-white videos seem to do VERY well in the Best Cinematography category. Just looking at the previous winners, a good number of them were in black and white: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1995, and 2004. Furthermore, several nominees were also black-and-white videos, i.e., Prince's "Black Sweat," Ashlee Simpson's "Invisible," Christina Aguilera's "The Voice Within," LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out," and Don Henley's "The End of the Innocence," among others.
I guess there's just something about filming in black and white that produces a much sharper and better-defined image while also bringing out the best of the lighting and camera movement. Also, in an interesting coincidence, MTV hasn't chosen a black-and-white winner since 2004, when Jay-Z's "99 Problems" won. Maybe they will now change that piece of trivia by giving it to Mrs. Carter herself, and it would be a deserving winner. If not, Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" are also worthy contenders. Still, I think Beyoncé will take it.
SHOULD & WILL WIN: Beyoncé, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)"

Wow interesting. I dodn't know that.
If "I Were A Boy" was the video Beyonce was nominated for then definetly she would of won, but I don't think she will.
I would give it to "Circus"

"Viva la Vida" has a great job done there.

Cinematography has to do with lighting and camera choices, though, not setting. It's like the photographic aspect of film-making (i.e., frames); that's why the cinematographer is also called "director of photography."
