IT IS the music industry's night of nights and the awards produced are internationally salivated over, but according to Sam Sparro, this year's Grammy's ceremony was "pretty sh. . .y".
In the running for Best Dance Recording at the 51st annual gongs thanks to his worldwide chart-topper Black And Gold, the electro pop sensation said he was stuck inside LA's Staples Center for a crazy nine hours with no food provided and - the worst part - no alcohol.
No stranger to saying what he feels after last year slamming Madonna as "vulgar", Sparro's opinion wasn't helped by leaving empty-handed.
"If you were performing it would be really fun but going just to lose basically, that sucked," he told Confidential.
"Everyone keeps asking me how it was and I feel like such a whinger, but it was pretty sh. . .ty. We sat there and watched - for nine hours."
The ARIA nominee was at odds as to why such a glamorous event was such a letdown.
"I guess because it's TV in America and it's ridiculous. At the ARIAs they fed us. We had to buy hotdogs. I felt like I was at a football game."
The LA-based Sparro, who will today perform at popular music festival Good Vibes, has returned to Oz for a holiday and to work on his second album. He will perform on So You Think You Can Dance on Monday night.
But he admits to never watching it and not being interested in such talent quest programs.
"I watch American Idol and I enjoy that but those kind of shows aren't really for artists; it's for singers who need to be told what to sing," he said. "And I'm not competitive at all."

Yeah. "Black and Gold" is a pretty fabulous song, but who gives a ****? No one knows who Sam Sparro is in the states, except for the gays.
I am gay and have no idea who he is. Maybe someone's musical taste is not dictated by sexual orientation after all.
Could that be true?!?!?!
Seriously! People make assumptions too fast, I'm straight and I know who he is.
Oh man some of you guys take things too seriously. I was saying that Sam Sparro's music is played a lot in gay clubs. It's been written about it in articles about the guy.
He is also gay.
I am also gay.
I was chiming in that I don't see this "Grammys didn't feed me" shtick from somebody that nobody's ever heard of in the states taken seriously.
That's all. I wasn't meaning to offend anyone.
