Best Pop Artist: Miranda! (might also win Best Artist - South)
Best Rock Artist: Los Fabulosos Cadillacs
Best Alternative Artist: Kinky (for crying out loud, this is like the sixth time they're nominated for this award since they NEVER win it!! At least give them a Lifetime Achievement Award: they deserve at least one lengua!!)
Best Urban Artist: Calle 13 (they're probably the most innovative of the bunch, even if I don't like their music that much)
Honestly, though, I think that Paulina will win a couple of awards, and SOTY will go to either Shakira or Lady Gaga, with Nelly Furtado as a close third. Other people who I think will win awards: * Fanny Lú (Best Artist - Central) * Ádammo (Best New Artist - Central and maybe even the La Zona Award... though Cienfue being the only Panamanian nominee could also get it) * Paty Cantú (Best New Artist - North) * Banda de Turistas (Best New Artist - South) * Sonohra (Breakthrough Artist, and first Italians with an actual chance of winning... take THAT Tiziano Ferro).
I could really care less about the pop culture awards (Best Ringtone, best Movie, Best Video Game Soundtrack, etc.). Oh, and if this isn't clear for some, these are the nominations for Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica 2009. In other words, these are the MTV Latino awards for the best in Latin music and the favorites of MTV's audience in Latin America. There is NO relation whatsoever to the Video Music Awards except for the fact that they're both award shows (though I'd love to see the International Viewer's Choice Awards come back to the VMAs).

DJWolf why dont you shut up? It's my opinion if these Awards are stupid and you cant change that. I know that there are tons of MTV channels but I think the awards are stupid. I dont understand all the Nelly Furtado nominations, because I know "Manos al aire" is not doing well in many latin markets, maybe is kind of fixed to promote her more.
This is the only year when Paulina Rubio can beat Shakira, cause her "Causa y efecto" was HUGE and with better reviews than "Loba" , I remember the first awards in 2002 where "Wherever whenever" swept and Paulina's "Dont say goodbye" lost everything.
By the way, I love to watch European, Latin, Australian and Asian MTV awards, I love all music and this awards make us closer to worldwide music.

^^ how is it not doing well in Latin market? I think it's in the top five on most Billboard Hot Latin charts. and it reached top ten in Europe and top 2 in germany.

I do realize who I'm talking to, some immature bi polar dude who has no own oppinion of himself and follows what other people say like a lost puppy dog and contradicts himself left to right. The Latin market is way different than the American one and these awards are needed for those people. The world is not just the USA.

I agree that South-America, Europe, Asia and North-America people has different tastes, but i find idiot, having the same people nominated in the international field... i dont see the point of having that. Or latin or both but not separated.
