I've been dying to start a thread, but, I figured I'd wait for more news to pop up. Kelly wrote on her official blog that she finished recording on Oct 23rd.
Kelly Clarkson Gears Up to Release 4th Record; More Mainstream By CelebMusicEntertainment, published Nov 10, 2008
The first winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, is preparing for her 4th release. The multi-platinum Grammy winner fell short last year on her third, most raw and personal album My December when music exec Clive Davis publicly dismissed it as unsellable due to its emotional dark content.
Clarkson's controversial and anticipated My December came at a time when she was seen as one of the world's best singers and also one of today's hit writers, penning several No. 1's for herself. The album failed to take off due to no promotion after the label offered her $10 million to replace 5 songs with more radio friendly hooks. However, Clarkson denied the money value and stuck to her artistic roots, fighting until the record was released after 4 months of being shelved. The single "Never Again" peaked at No. 8 on the Hot 100 chart when several media outlets on Davis' side said the public did not want to hear it. Although, the Alanis Morissette-esque song has found itself just 40,000 copies shy of being a platinum single. The second single "Sober" received absolutely zero promotion from the label as retaliation and only peaked at 124 on the Hot 100. Fans were outraged as an artist on such a scale would be treated with such disrespect.
During the negotiations to release the album, Clarkson came to agreement with her label that if she were to release this album, she'd do whatever they wanted the next time around. And so far, she's kept that promise even with a new CEO in tow.
Clarkson's as yet untitled album was originally due for a November release. However, Clarkson began keeping a blog and has updated us recently that she's finished recording the album and just a week before that updated that she recorded one final song with OneRepublic frontman, producer/writer Ryan Tedder entitled "If I Can't Have You."
Ryan Tedder was one of the first to start working with Clarkson on her 4th album that will take on a mainstream appeal yet keep her newfound and favored rock vocals. Tedder has described several songs as reminiscent to the 90s post grunge band Garbage, haunting, and even one song that takes on a classical rhythmic Mozart feel.
The "aggressive pop-rock" as he put it could turn out to be tougher than we can envision. Working on the project is Howard Benson, who recorded more songs with Clarkson than Tedder had. Benson's roster includes names such as AC/DC, KISS, Aerosmith, Daughtry, Theory of a Deadman, and more. Kelly Clarkson and Daughtry also paired up for her upcoming album for a duet, produced by Howard Benson as well. There were talks of this duet last summer but nothing was ever confirmed. A picture on Benson's MySpace was recently taken down of the Idols once word started to spread.
Mick Mars from Motley Crue also penned a track for the record. If the song makes the final cut, that could cement Kelly's rock vocal capability, potentially giving her a wider audience that includes rock fans.
At a OneRepublic concert on November 3rd, Ryan Tedder informed a couple fans that Kelly's upcoming single would be entitled "Life Would Suck (Without You)" and was produced by Max Martin, who is responsible for Pink's first No. 1 on the Hot 100, "So What." Tedder also stated that this is "Kelly's best work to date and is like Breakaway on steroids," if that gives any indication of what the sound will be like. Breakaway used hit writers such as Max Martin to produce such massive hits as "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes."
Ryan Tedder cowrote a track with Gone 'til November titled "Save You," which was later taken down from their MySpace once word got out that Kelly Clarkson recorded it.
Kelly Clarkson also teamed up with photographer Mike Ruiz for her album shoots. His work includes high fashion photography in more than creative situations. He's worked with several people including LL Cool J, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Jenna Jameson, Jennifer Garner, and Jennifer Lopez.
In March, 4 demos Kelly recorded with bandmate Aben Eubanks, who is responsible for several tracks cowritten with Clarkson on My December, leaked showing a more softer acoustic country side to Kelly. Her recent inspirations include alternative country songwriter Patty Griffin and the recordings showed that intimacy. Of the four demos that were leaked, "Ready" is the only one to be reworked for the new album. Rolling Stones even reviewed the demos and said "Ready" is a surefire hit with a little more production.
The album's release date was then pushed back to December 2nd. However, due to Clarkson taking her time perfecting the album, the release date has yet again been pushed to February 10th as confirmed by RCA reps. Fans of Clarkson are seeing her on tour with Reba McEntire currently and asked Clarkson of her new album. She had reported the album will now come out in March, more than likely due to marketing strategies as Clarkson stated the album is now finished recording on her blog, http://www.iamkelly.wordpress.com.
Clarkson's last album showed her writing capabilities to the deepest extent. Her sophomore release Breakaway saw half the album being penned by Clarkson, including hit singles "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and a song she wrote at the age of 16, "Because of You." With the new CEO of the BMG label group, Barry Weiss, Clarkson may have a bigger advantage in crafting herself into a more career oriented artist, surpassing the tumult of a digital revolution making careers based only on singles. Weiss has declared he supports Clarkson fully and can sell anything she brings to him. Weiss is responsible for Pink's phoenix-like rise with "U + Ur Hand" and Jordin Sparks take off with "No Air."

Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."

Kelly Clarkson, the first and arguably most successful American Idol winner, announced on her blog in late October that she has finished recording her fourth album. And while no release date or title has been set, producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald), who has worked with Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and, most recently, Weezer, tells EW.com that a new single could be out as soon as December -- and that it will arrive without a hint of country twang, as some had speculated.
If anything, the song, by virtue of its title, "My Life Would Suck Without You," and the production team behind it, could be seen as a Part B to Clarkson's monster 2004 hit, "Since U Been Gone." As it turns out, Dr. Luke says he started developing the new song with pop maestro and "Since U Been Gone" collaborator Max Martin years ago. "After 'Since U Been Gone,' we wrote all these songs for Kelly," Dr. Luke says. "This one, which I think is the first single, we had the chorus a while ago and added the verse more recently. They were going to have it out on Nov. 20, but it just got too late. So now they're thinking Dec. 8 for a worldwide release, but I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being early January." (A rep for Clarkson says the single has yet to be chosen.)
With a new team in place (including manager Narvel Blackstock, Reba McEntire's husband) and the drama of My December behind her, Clarkson exuded nothing but confidence in the studio, Dr. Luke says. "It's sick. She sings a song in two hours and kills it. You’re just, like, 'holy s---.' She has powerful lungs. She’s like the Lance Armstrong of vocal chords."

Can't wait to hear the new stuff! It still remains pretty baffling how a record label could sabatage an album like they did with My December (in my mind the best release of 2007).
But hopefully with Clive out of the picture, the new era for Kelly will bring her back to her rightful place atop the pop/Hot AC charts.

I can't wait to hear new stuff either. She is sounding absolutely fantastic lately on tour with Reba. Her voice has never sounded stronger, IMO. Here is a video montage of mostly the Kelly parts from their "2 Worlds 2 Voices's tour", it was taken just last weekend (next weekend the tour ends)

Well then you're in for a treat. They both put on a fantastic show, their voices blend so well together, and their harmonies are spot on. They are both onstage the entire time,(about 2hours) singing each others songs, about 26 songs in all. Have fun!!

I'm am so excited for new Kelly music! ... She's amazing and "My December" was a great album. It totally got a raw deal. "Sober" is a brilliant single and one of my top 5 faves from last year! I'm sure she's gonna kill it and be back on top with this one. CANT WAIT!
Yeah, it's a damn shame that the label sabotaged "My December" as it had several potential singles on it. It had some clunkers, but so did "Breakaway". My December's quality became even more apparent to me when I saw her in concert and she performing songs from both albums and they totally worked together. It was stupid that the album was perceived as "darker"...
Anyways...moving on. I can't wait to hear new material from one of the best vocalists in the business.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"

WOW!! KElly is amamamazing and sounds Fabulous here. I saw this show last weekend in Grand Rapids and She was Beyond Stellar. Her nexzt album Is gonnna be amazing. I can just feel it
Her performance in her tour with Reba, "Stuff Like That There" is just too good. This girl is just so versitile. She can go from rock (Cryin'), to R&B/pop (Miss Independent), to pop/rock (Since U Been Gone), to soul/blues (Up To The Mountain). Her voice hsa gotten back to its old self, and hopefully she can take a long rest after this album.
I hated My December the first time i heard it. But there are some diamonds in the rough (Sober, Irvine, Chivas), and it really shows the artist that she can be. Can't wait for this new album to come out.
I can't wait to hear new music from Kelly. I'm glad she's leaving the song writing to the professionals this time around. I understand she wanted to be more involved with the direction of her last album as a lyricist. That was one of the main problems I found with "My December", there was no memorable hooks on any of the songs. The Choruses were very weak and the overall production was totally different for Kelly Clarkson. It was probably taken as a shock to the majority of the Kelly Clarkson fans out there, hence why the album performed badly even with the fiasco with Clive Davis. The majority of the albums tracks weren't radio friendly, even though I liked "Sober", it was the biggest mistake to release that as a 2nd single. What radio station would play that song? It's not radio friendly at all. Anyways, I'm happy she's working with Dr.Luke & Max Martin again. I can't wait to hear the first single they did for Kelly.

Yeah, she killed SLTT, I LOVED it. Here's a video of it: ( i updated this link to a clearer version) SLTT-YOUTUBE VIDEO
Now Amazon has the cd listed for release on March 17th 2009 GAHH, that means the single probably won't be out until Jan. I was SO hoping for a Dec. release of the single.

I honestly can't wait for this. I was somewhat disappointed with My December. It wasn't a bad album, and had some amazing tracks(Sober). But coming off of one of the best pop albums in recent memory, she had her work cut out for her. And i totally understand her desire to be in control of her music. But sometimes things are best left to the professionals. Kelly is a singer and she does it so well. Why stray from that formula? At least for the time being.

I understand where you both are coming from, but, if you watch this 5 min. interview from Canada about the time MD was coming out, you'll see where Kelly was coming from. And I agree with her. She knew it wasn't commercial enough, but, it was what she needed at the time, until the next one, which can be more commercial. With MD, she was kinda able to slip away from the radar for a bit, and people weren't getting sick of her, being EVERYWHERE. (with the 5 successful singles from BA, her recurrents kept her on the radio- a lot!) This way, maybe people will be really looking forward to her again, and not say, oh god, I wish this girl would go away for awhile, we need a break from her.
We'll see the professional writers on this new cd, but, I bet Kelly will have some of her own songs as well, just like with Breakaway.

Yeah now it looks like we'll get an early January release of the single. Oh well i don't mind at all. At least they are perfecting the album for us. Her last concert in Baltimore was her best! Seriosuly, her version of Since U been Gone was great along with Never Again. Her voice is slowly coming back into form again.
I found this a while back from another board...which is a demo for Kelly which i think she recorded...its called "Save You" Save You
And here's another one. It's basically a song that Kelly recorded and Clive and the producers are talking about it. What sucks is that Clive is talking over it...
