Best Idol winner to date? Yup, and after watching that performance, she has the best female vocal out there today, PERIOD!! Thanks for posting that, she always gives me chills with that song, but, that performance raised the hair on my arms! and to think that was sung on the last night of a 24 city tour, is even more impressive. After watching that video, I got redirected to another video from the last night of the tour, that totally BLEW me away also. Her performance of Never Again. HOLY SH*T! This is the most impressed I've ever been with her voice. I'm no expert, but, I believe at the end of this song, she sings in upper 5th register, like a F#5, and not in no falsetto either, in FULL CHEST VOICE!! Just wow is all I can say. Check it out, and let me know what notes she's hitting at about 3:20 min. mark of this video ("I never will"):

Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."

^^AGREE!! WOWOWOW @ never Again. THe fact this the LAST show of the tour is amazing.lol She sounded soo amazing on those last notes. This makes more even more pumped for the New album.
Starbright, like I said, I'm no expert, but, do you know if that would be considered an F#5?

Thanks for posting those guys. Damn, Kelly's voice was phenomenal on both those tracks.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
Well there was a rumour that Daughtry and KC would duet (which turned out to be true) but now it is scrapped since the label didn't like Daughtry's vocals on the track and they never hav ethe time to meet at the same time in the same studio. And i think one of the demos "Ready" is on the album.
And restless, her performance of "Never Again" in Blatimore was just too good, i didn't even expect that note in the "I Never Will" part, gave me chills.

Personally, I'm glad there is no duet with Daughtry. As far as the "Ready" demo making the cd, I could go for that, with a little re-working of the demo. I like the song.

Kelly blogged again, and she said the cd is in the mixing & mastering stage getting closer...
I don't know too many pop stars that pimp other stars cd's, but, Kelly does it all the time. I love what she had to say about Pink, and her new cd....anyway, here's what she had to say:
happy holidays!! Posted in Uncategorized on December 1, 2008 by iamkelly so i’ve been in texas since ending the tour. i’ve been hanging with family during the holidays and i made my first turkey with my sister this year ….which is kind of hilarious seeing as how i haven’t eaten meat in over a year, but it was fun to make. and by fun, i mean our turkey was awesome and everything but i’ll never do it again. it was freakin’ exhausting!! i had to wake up at 5 in the morning, the night before we had to brine the dang thing, and oh my lord i’ll never do it again. my sister and i made the ENTIRE meal and i gotta be honest it gave me a whole new respect for housewives because it was just tiring!! all the cleaning and cooking and baking and watching babies! now that i’m done complaining i will tell you that my sister and i had a competition with my brother and his girlfriend on who was gonna make the best turkey and well, was there any doubt …..you should never challenge the ‘clarkson’ women, we always dominate ….it’s what we do.
anyway, just waiting for all the songs for the new album to be mixed and mastered. it’s pretty much taking forever but i want it done right so i’m not gonna rush them ….too much
i’ve been listening to pink’s new album, which i love! i have come to the conclusion that she is possibly one of the greatest talents of our generation. if you don’t have her new album you should get it ….favorites of mine are ‘please don’t leave me’, ‘bad influence’, ‘crystal ball’, and ‘mean’. i don’t think it’s possible for her to come out with something bad because her voice is like a classic story, you just wanna freakin’ hear it over and over again! brandi carlile also has that voice, so great!
i saw the movie ‘australia’ tonight with a friend and i mean wow ….god did good when he made hugh jackman! it was kind of long but i loved the movie! of course you can’t really go wrong with baz luhrmann, nicole kidman and hugh jackman but this little kid that was in the movie stole the show. he was so adorable!
also just want to say thank you again to all the fans who came out and supported the ‘2 worlds, 2 voices’ tour! it was by far the highlight of my life sharing a stage with reba! y’all have no idea how cool reba really is! it’s awesome to grow up loving someone for their talent and then getting to know and love them more as a friend later in life ….i owe the big guy upstairs a lot for that one because that was totally something i prayed for when i was a kid ….okay, mushy moment over haha
hope y’all are taking time to chill and slow down for the holidays! …..and if you aren’t maybe you should play hookie tomorrow and sleep in …..i’m just sayin’
later,
kelly

i thought my december had some good tracks, "sober" is an amazing song it ****es me off that a beautifully written song like that made no impact whatsoever but a song like umbrella which a 6 year old could write is nominated for record of the year. boggles my mind, but then again, it's the beat that people like these days i guess. I also liked never again, maybe and don't waste your time. I hope this album is a success, it boggles my mind that people are so infactuated with christina a's voice when there are singers like kelly clarkson who actually have a clear appealing voice

I'm also excited for some new Kelly. While I didn't love My December it did have some GREAT songs on it including "Be Still" which has become one of my all time favorite songs.

I read this at the Express. Can't wait! I am really curious about this first single, that video with Clive shows it playing but he is talking over it so it sounded distorted....

Kelly Clarkson’s New Single “My Life Would Suck Without You” Hits Radio January 19th 12/22/08, 3:45 pm EST
Kelly Clarkson will reportedly return January 19th when “My Life Would Suck Without You,” the first single from her upcoming fourth album, hits radio. Rolling Stone got an early listen to a few tunes from the still-untitled disc (expected out March 17th) and can report they are, in two words, totally awesome. Reports that Clarkson was making a country record were incorrect — the new album is stocked with primo pop hits reminiscent of Breakaway.
Clarkson left fans a video message (above) where she announces a Website change (she’s ditching kellyclarksonweb.com for kellyofficial.com). She also established a voice mailbox where fans can call in for updates on all things Kelly. Clarkson previously posted in late October that she had finished recording her new album, the former American Idol winner’s first since 2007’s My December.

I was really glad to see that posted by Rolling Stone. They haven't had a straight-forward positive critique towards hardly anything Kelly has released. Maybe this album will be the one to change things... Can't wait for the single release!
