People really need to get over Kelly winning American Idol. It was 7 years ago. Time to move on.
You're right!, and this thread has hit 500 posts, so, I'm going to start another thread, and hopefully, we can concentrate on NOW, and not 7 years ago.
Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."
"Music is powerful, it's a drug that makes your inhibitions go away and leaves your vulnerabilities exposed" - KC

Also, Kelly Clarkson did NOT deserve to win season 1 of American Idol. Runner-up would have been more appropriate. That's another debate for another day.
You're obviously not a fan of Kelly Clarkson so i'm not even gonna try and convince you.
But Kelly did pave way for others and without her success, there would be no Carrie, and there would be no fantasia either. and not to mention jennifer hudson.
She has an excellent voice (one that parallels the greats) and most importantly, she's not fake and she's definitely not a diva.
so my point is that Kelly deserved to win and she might not have the "star quality" whatever the hell that means, but she is the most successful idol and that's the end of that.
For Your Grammy Consideration: Not Whitney Houston

This is the first time I've heard about this. Good thing she wasn't nominated. My December is not rock.

I'm obviously being predictable, but I completely concur that Kelly deserved to win season 1...absolutely. To be honest, until this I've heard very, VERY little debate over the last 7 years as to whether she deserved to win. The true, general consensus is that she was a deserved winner.
And you can't dispute that she paved that Idol road with gold for those that followed. At least (most) of the ones that followed are happy to give her props for being the first. I know that AI is whatever in a lot of people's minds, but I think it is breeding a new, kinder pop star. The type that truly appreciates his/her fans and their success.
There are a few exceptions, but I think most of the winners (and by winners I mean those that actually won and those that have found success even if they didn't win) from Idol seem genuinely nice and thrilled to be working, frankly.
The chick is iight. No biggy. I thought there were better contestants on the show in her season. If she wasn't the first one to win and won later down the line, I highly doubt she would've been that successful (or had two successful albums to say). It is now showing her present sales, the interest isn't there (all the excuses can be left at the front door because I do not want to read them). No winners should have to thank her because she did not pave the way for them, American Idol, the show, did. She was just a brand of their, that's all.
.... Even if you are a million miles away, I can still feel you in my bed, near me, touch me, feel me and even at the bottom of the sea, I can still hear you inside my head, telling me, touch me, feel me, and all the time you were telling me lies

Then don't read the posts. If you think people aren't going to post here why they like Kelly or think she's the best Idol, then you're diluted.

Typical.
I stated my opinion and I actually read the article that was posted. I must have some interest in what is going in this thread if I'm here, would you think, huh? I'm just amazed that you Kelly Clarkson's fans gets so hyper-sensitive/b!tchy when something is negative posted about her. Maturity will be the key to accepting other people's opinion without going stan's mode on other posters, you know. Try it sometimes.
I will post where I want to, just as I would think you would the same, you think?
Alright? Alright, thank you.
