In about 30 minutes: American Idol finale will be on. Rumor has it that ZZ Top, the Jonas Brothers, Carrie Underwood, and Donna Summer will be performing. We shall see.........
Ushers new cd features a reference to Donna Summer, according to another fan post on another Donna Summer forum:
"Crayons" is featured in the new music section of Ebony Magazine titled ear candy. It's the June edition with Chris Brown on the Cover.
Also, on one of the standout tracks on Usher's new album titled "What's your name", he sings this line; "Like Donna Summer, girl give me this last dance".
LOL. I've posted there before, but it does not seem to be a place to post updated info. Thanks for filling me in though. By the way, Donna Summer fans are passionate about Donna Summer. That's why we do things like this. I haven't gone so far as buying Circuit City out of their "Crayons" cds like some have so they can give them to their friends and family, but we are a passionate bunch about the Queen. Excuse, me, the Empress (smile). God bless.
Here's a customer cd review of Donna Summer's new cd, "Crayons" from Amazon.com for those of you still on the edge about purchasing it. It is a video review:
A snippet or perhaps all of a interview in a German magazine. This was posted by a fan from another site:
Nice little interview with our Empress in the Berlin gay magazine Siegessaeule. I hope you don't suffer from my translation )
Donna talks about how it feels to be at the top ...
"For a short time it is okay, on the long hand it's unhealthy. The human body is not meant to be steadily under electricity. Just have a look at Whitney or Britney, all the ones that were forced to live in a hyper modus for a long time. At a certain moment they break down because they cannot follow this 'speed'. Without help it is impossible."
And something about her most important fans - us
"What importance has the gay community for your carreer?
A very big one, without any doubt. I think the gay clubs helped me very much to begin my carreer. I see it as a kind of revenge as then I was living actually in the gay clubs of Munich and Hamburg (laughing). I had the feeling this was the logical starting point for my music.
How did you become the darling of the gay community?
I think I was honest. And crazy, in a good way, fun-crazy. I also didn't take myself too serious."
Check out this vintage Grammy Awards clip from back in the Donna Summer day. She's dueting with Kenny Rogers and blows him away. The person who posted the video apparently did some editing. Enjoy.
