I am a singer, have two degrees in music, sing semi-professionally and teach voice. I can give you the technical definitions of these classifications if you want. Though, most pop singers don't have that wide a vocal range. Or, at least, they don't use a wide vocal range. Most female pop singers are belters who sing in a very small range. A lot of popular male singers are tenors.
Just to help you get started, here is the ordering, from highest to lowest:

Women
Soprano Mezzo Contralto
Men Countertenor Tenor Baritone Bass
- That'd be great if you did that and gave some examples if you want
Beyonce - Dramatic Mezzo Soprano/Full Soprano Whitney/Celine - Mezzo Sopranos Leona Lewis - Colourtura Soprano Mariah Carey - Alto (She said it herself, though there is a strong debate for her being a Soprano) Christina Aguilera - Soprano Josh Groban - Baritone, he might be a tenor when he gets older. Justin Timberlake - Tenor Robin Thicke - Baritone Katy Perry/Rihanna - Altos Aretha Franklin - Mezzo Soprano Lady GaGa - Alto/Mezzo Soprano, I'm not sure though, I haven't herd her head voice enough.
