Saw him play last night at the Los Angeles Film Festival. And it just occurred to me - this guy doesn't have his own thread here yet.

Matt sounded f*cking great last night. It was only him and Aaron Tap (guitar/back-up vocals). He performed 7 songs, stripped down. It was intimate and beautiful.

Anyway, let's talk about this guy's Grammy chances.

I saw his name being constantly mentioned in the POP FIELD thread as a potential Best Male Pop Vocal Performance nominee for "Come On Get Higher". I hope he does get a nomination (and even a win) for that fantastic song.

But has anyone heard his new single, "Falling Apart"?

IMO, "Come On Get Higher" is still the better song. But in terms of vocals, Matt got to showcase his vocals more in "Falling Apart".

Is it possible for him to get a Pop nomination for "Come On Get Higher", then get a Rock nomination for "Falling Apart"?

I've been wondering the same thing.

I know he's been around for the longest time, but he only broke out last year. So does that still make him eligible? He could very well pull off an Imogen Heap.

Does anyone know if he's eligible for a BNA nom?
