I grew up on Michael Jackson. He was a genius and a legend. This is just saddening. He was the greatest and will never be forgotten. R.I.P. Frown

Yeah, I'm pretty much in your boat. My thoughts are with his family.

Yeah if he did a U.S. tour, I would've no doubt gone, if I was given a chance. I would've paid all that I could. Oh well. That's life.

This is our Elvis. I can barely process how huge this is. Michael's music was all through my childhood. I can't imagine it without it. The first album I ever owned was a Michael Jackson album. Ugh I'm so depressed right now. Frown

So depressing. Just tragic. I was on the verge of tears earlier.

What luck for rulers that men do not think.

Yes, I'm glad that someone brought this up unlike the media which has glossed over it for now. It seems like there were two Michaels for me. The one who was involved in brilliant music like Off the Wall and Thriller, who died a long time ago. Then, the other soulless one that took his place. I hope the latter MJ is finally out of his suffering because that MJ was living a nomadic existence just drifting making promise after promise that anyone with any common sense would no he couldn't go through with because he was pumped full of so many drugs all the time and his body and mind weren't in any kind of sound condition.

It's also shocking because he seemed like a child, so seems much younger than 50, even though that's young enuff as it is to die.

Such a shame about some of the latter crap he had to deal with, because he was such a huge star, one of the biggest ever it seems.

I didn't know what to think earlier. I got a few text messages and had heard on here that he was in serious condition, but didn't think he would die. Wow, I really don't know how to feel. I grew up, along with everyone else on Michael Jackson, so its tragic no doubt. He was and will always be a legend and an idol in my eyes. One of the greatest as well as one of my greatest performers/entertainers ever.

Yeah I think the first album I had was a Michael Jackson one. I own a lot of his albums, even the newer stuff. He was my first, in terms of bringing me to music and whatnot.

Exactly. And what makes me mad is that some people think he deserved to die because of all the rumors about him molesting little boys! Nope

Two pop culture icons in one day WOW! I just want to comment on Jackson right now. Off the Wall is one of the best albums of all time if not the best. Jackson changed pop music with Thriller. Bad although not as good as his earlier stuff is much better than the s h i t t y music being put out today. He really left his mark as an artist.
R.I.P.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

MTV's showing old Jackson 5 footage right now, and they're doing a tribute of some sort at 9 PM ET tonight. That's the least they can do -- their initial success is forever linked to Michael Jackson and his videography.

There would be no MTV if it wasn't for Michael Jackson. Period. I mean Madonna and others played a huge part, but Michael Jackson made music television. MTV has to do something.
