Her first single "Come On Over" from her new studio album which is set to be released in September has just been released. Some of you may not know but Jessica decided to take a different path musically this time around going Country.
To hear her first single, you can download it here:
I'm quite surprised because I'm enjoying it. The chorus to it is killer. I hope she finds success with her Country direction now after the disastrous failure of her last album "A Public Affair".
I am pleasantly surprised by the song. It sounds very natural and not forced, like some of Carrie Underwood's songs... it just really fits Jessica's voice.
Kinda ironic that she is going the country route with a first single that shares its title with the biggest selling country album of all time.
Songs OK. I don't know....Jessica has never been a mainstream favorite and the only reason she gained some popularity was NOT due to her music. I liked her first album OK, but she just never really set herself apart from her competition for me. This country move seems too little too late.

Songs is o.k., nothing special, but, I don't think "country" is going to embrace her at all. It's like she's going to use the genre, for a last resort kind of thing.

Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."

You really think its all too late for Jessica? I think she has a chance finding success again. Her pop music over the years has been garbage, this new song is delightfully a breath of fresh air. I'm looking forward to hearing the other new tracks.

You beat me to it. Sounds like Jessica is trying to follow in the footsteps of Shania. Then again, what young female country artist isn't trying to be Shania?
I think Jessica Simpson was trying to sound like Jewel previously.
OH. HOLY. FVCKING. SH!T.
that must've been one of the most pathetic displays of non-existent talent i've ever seen. bitch was trying waaaaaay too hard. that thing she does with her mouth is so damn annoying.
Guru's right, Jessica was trying too much to sound like Jewel. she tries, but fails. then when Jewel sings, she does it so effortlessly. and you can tell from the look on Jewel's face that she's soooo over it. it's like she can't believe that hag beside her is murdering her song.
fast forward to 4:01, when they're doing their glory note. you can see Jewel kinda shrug as if to say "whatever". hahahahaha.
but like i said earlier... the girl just won't stop trying.

I don't necessarily like the song (mostly because I don't like country per se), but I think she sounds fine. It suits her voice, sounds pretty natural to me.
I always thought Jessica should have explored country after her beautiful cover of Patti Griffin's "Let Him Fly" from her A Public Affair album. I think she can be successful with it.

I know. I hate how some people are so quick to shoot people down. If she manages to do something substantial with her career, then good for her for real! She's been pretty bad before, but if we shot down everyone we thought was just some dumb, teeny bopper, we would never have had Christina or Justin, or even the new GGGB Rihanna. So, I say she can keep trying until she finds something that works for her and hopefully a nice fanbase that appreciates it.

I so so agree. This girl has the vocals. She just have to find the place to put it.

I thought this girl's career was long over. I mean, Jessica has a good voice but always subpar material. This country thing will flop just like her last album did.
The good thing is country is a stong market to sell albums. Maybe she can revive her career, though I highly doubt it.

I can see this happening and this is what irritates me. The song is definitely one of Jessica's best, but to me it's hardly original. While someone like, Miranda Lambert is making original music but sometimes struggles at radio. Miranda has more talent in her little finger than Jessica has in her whole body. If there's going to be another successful blond superstar, I want Miranda. At least everyone can be 100x sure country isn't her fall-back.
