THE SEA, GRAMMY WINNER CORINNE BAILEY RAE’S NEW ALBUM, SET FOR FEBRUARY 2ND RELEASE ON EMI’S CAPITOL RECORDS
On February 2nd, 2010, EMI’s Capitol Records will release Corinne Bailey Rae’s new album, The Sea. The record was co-produced by Bailey Rae with Steve Brown, and Steve Chrisanthou, who produced many of the songs on her debut album, which has sold four million copies worldwide. Fans can check out behind-the-scenes footage of Corinne recording the album and hear a preview of music from The Sea at her website, http://www.corinnebaileyrae.net/.
Bringing together a new band of musicians, Bailey Rae recorded the album mainly in Leeds and Manchester, England. Her voice, always an expressive and soulful instrument, resonates with a poignant and newfound depth on The Sea. Loss and grief are recurring themes yet a sense of beauty and wonder ultimately radiates from the album’s dark corners.
“There is something miraculous that pushes you along, makes you keep going, makes you carry on. It’s really about the mystery of that. In fact, the whole album is about that in a way; it’s about loss but it’s also about hope, about keeping going and trying to find that beauty,” Bailey Rae told the U.K.’s Observer Music Monthly, which hailed The Sea as “an extraordinarily intimate and impassioned album” in its recent cover story on her, which can be found at:

Are you kidding me? Yeah dude, I loved it! Some cuts from that album are just pristine. "Till It Happens To You" and "Like A Star" are magical to me lol.

Great news! Glad that she'll be back on the scene again. She's had a lot to combat since her debut, so best of luck to her.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!

Hopefully she raises her game a little. She's great and her debut was solid, but it hasn't stood the test of time very well. I'm bored by most of the tracks now.

Actually, she is a Grammy winner. She's one of the credited artists on Herbie H.'s Album of the Year win in 2008. So technically speaking, Corinne Bailey Rae is an Album of the Year Grammy winner.

Poor Corinne. Didn't her husband die last year? I wish her all happiness and success and here's to hoping her sophomore effort is better than her debut. Despite a few solid tracks, I thought her debut was pretty lousy. It was really boring in some parts.
The husband of Grammy-nominated British singer Corinne Bailey Rae has been found dead.
Police say Jason Rae was found in an apartment in the northern English city of Leeds on Saturday. Officers are awaiting results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of death.
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying him with drugs but has been released on bail, officials said.
Thirty-one-year-old Jason Rae was a saxophonist with a funk band, the Haggis Horns.
Bailey Rae's self-titled debut album sold more than 1 million copies in the U.S. after its release in 2006.
