Sup Be! I've chatted with you before in an old Common topic.
As far as 2009 goes, I would say I enjoyed:
Mos Def - The Ecstatic Jay-Z - Blueprint III Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon Drake - So Far Gone (Mixtape) Ghostface Killah - Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City
Im awaiting Relapse 2 (Eminem) and Before I Self Destruct (50 Cent).
Em proved to be very super lyrical on Relapse 1, but the execution of the album didnt allow for massive replay value.
50 is on his "last life" and I think he will churn out some solid material (much better than the catastophy that was "Curtis").
I hate to bring this up because I don't wanna start anything with MC fans lol...
But if "The Warning" is what we can come to expect from Eminem on "Relapse 2", then I highly anticipate this album, as the "The Warning" is Eminem back on lyrical form.
Em has what it takes to be a top 5 rapper, but I'm just waiting on him to deliver ONE more classic album before I officially label him as top 5.
I have high hopes for "Relapse 2."
And if you liked "Wizard of Poetry", I know you had to have liked "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...Pt. 2"
I think that's my favorite rap album of the year (so far), as BP3 and The Ecstatic, amongst others, left me thoroughly disappointed.
Busta Rhymes (classic!) Jay-Z (old school stuff...not so much now) Nas Kanye West (great songwriter!) Common Big Boi Crime Mob (Sad that they are no more)
Who I'm feeling currently...
Nicki Minaj ("I Get Crazy", "Bed Rock" with Young Money) Drake (great new songwriter) Kid Cudi - "The Pursuit of Happiness"
and especially...
GUCCI MANE!!!!! (love, love, love GUCCI!) He's like the new ODB!
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak Adele for "Hometown Glory" Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody" The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' " Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"

I heard an interview last night, Em says that Relapse 2:
- Will be more emotion driven music - 4-5 beats by Just Blaze
I bought Ghostface and downloaded OB4CL2. Truthfully, Rae's album is solid, but it is a bit overrated. It's no classic, plenty of good songs (particulary production) on the album.

Haha, none taken. You're entitled to your opinion. Gucci's a new artist so he's got time to grow and build a reputation. ODB is a legend, but I was just comparing the two cause they both have a sort of grungy sound (if that makes sense). I definitely feel like at the very least, Gucci was influenced by ODB. I'm from the A and we love us some Gucci here! haha

lol yo 24, I visited the A last year real briefly, I love your women!
Back to the topic, Gucci (to me) adds to the on going unbalanced problem in hip hop, maybe that's more of the label's fault than anything. My all time southern classics belong to 2 Live Crew! Luda is my favorite southern MC as well.

I'm not too big on hip hop, but there are some artists that I do enjoy.
Beasite Boys Missy Elliot Kanye West Outkast
I have a few of all of their albums. Of the newbies, I do like Kid Cudi, but I'm not sure about picking up his album. I also like what I've heard of Lupe Fiasco, but I never picked up any of his albums either.
In response to Be, Double D took the words right out of my mouth. Today's Hip-Hop( And Music In General) is straight up GARBAGE! I cant even listen to the Radio anymore!
My favorite rapper is probably Biggie too.
As far as Female Emcee's I love Lil Kim,Foxy Brown,Lauryn Hil,MC Lyte, and Rah Digga. I still dont know why Irv Gotti never had Charli Baltimore release an album. She had so much potential and even garnered a Grammy nomination in 2003!
