I think Animal Collective might be too weird for Grammy; as well, if MGMT couldn't get a nod here last year, I don't see AC doing it. Plus, they are so overrated.
The Dead Weather album is FANTASTIC. I wouldn't be suprised to see it land in Alternative or in the Rock categories. It definitely deserves love somewhere.

Oh man,NO JOKE THERE! It is dark and moody and raw and stunning. The production is also really inspired. Jack is doing a lot of interesting things this year with not only The Dead Weather but It Might Get Loud, Under Great White Northern Lights, Third Man Records, The Vault, the series of blue 7" singles...on and on. He's everywhere, in the best of ways for an artist. As a Kills fan I am also thrilled to see Alison get some of the attention she deserves. She's a terrific frontwoman and lyricist. I am seeing the Dead Weather in October, cannot wait. Until then Horehound is in pretty much constant rotation. I really love this record. ...and honestly with Jack's track record with The Grammys and the respect he has within the industry, I cannot imagine this record not being acknowledged somewhere.

Agreed Scarlet. I knew you'd come out of the wood work to talk about this album!!
I literally can't stop listening to it, and the only other record I can say that about this year is the YYY's.
It's so dark and intense, and I like Allison way more than the few tv performances I saw of her with the DW. Jack is really the most interesting/brilliant/talented/****ingawesome person in music right now. He's the genius of our time.
HaHa,yeah, you were right that this would pull me out of the shadows! And I agree about the YYYs, It's Blitz is BRILLIANT. It is a fun, exciting and progressive record for them. It's simply GOT to be a contender somewhere.
As for Alison, I love the Kills, but the DW is really providing a huge showcase for her. Certainly the Kills have always been in the Stripes shadow, but they are a fun band in their own right...just not an important band (like I believe the Stripes are...strictly IMO) I hope she's ready to become a big star, I think this might be her time. LOVE HER.
It's no secret that I am a huge JW fan. He just continues to inspire me. He is an artist that is not only constantly bursting with creativity but manages to be uber productive. A man obviously living his dreams....and his artistic dreams realized are true gifts to his fans. You're right, he is an absolute genius.
I am going to be thrilled to see either or both of these bands get the noms and awards they deserve.

I think Kings of Leon will go Pop Group for "Use Somebody" and Rock Group/Song for "Notion." It would be a smart move especially since "Use Somebody" is now getting tons of play on pop radio.
I'll go with these predictions for Alternative album for now.
Alternative Album Merriweather Post Pavillion - Animal Collective Veckatimest - Grizzly Bear It's Not Me, It's You - Lily Allen Wilco - Wilco It's Blitz - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I do not want to disappoint our Japanese public, especially Godzilla. Hahaha! I'm just kidding, I know he doesn't care what humans do.
It'll be interesting to see which groups go in Pop and which in Rock. Daughtry was nominated in Rock Album in the past, so they'll probably submit themselves there again. What about other groups like All-American Rejects and The Fray? Wonder where they will go. Also wonder if Bob Dylan will submit his new album in Rock or Pop. Decisions decisions.
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak Adele for "Hometown Glory" Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody" The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' " Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"
The Dead Weather's "Horehound" is fantastic! I'm guessing Rock, same as where they placed The Raconteurs, and I'd be SHOCKED to not see them nominated. YYY's "It's Blitz!" will be put in Alternative, and I really hope they win with this one. I'm also in love with Phoenix' "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix", a strong contender in Alternative, I would hope... I'm all but certain that U2 will fill one of those 5 slots for Rock album, but I hope The Killers get some love for "Day & Age". 'Spaceman' and 'Dustland Fairytale' are great singles. What singles were released from "Horehound"? I LOVE 'Treat Me Like Your Mother'.

Tori Amos should be considered for "Best Alterntive Album" She hasn't been recognized in the last few years at the Grammy's but who knows maybe this is the year she'll garner another nod.
