I just picked up the Juno soundtrack. It's pretty great.

Anyone picked up Goldfrapp's latest? It's getting pretty fantastic reviews.

Just bought Vampire Weekend's Vampire Weekend.

This is probably THE SINGLE MOST FUN, clap-happy album of the year so far. How do you even describe this music? It's indie rock, I guess. Pop? I guess it is too.

Anyway, it's really cool. I like, I like.

Vampire Weekend is absolutely poptastic! Great album indeed.

The Raconteurs: >Consolers of The Lonely<
Positively brilliant songwriting by Benson and White. Of course all these guys are outstanding musicians and the production is a nothing short of a wall of sound. I read opinions that range from Beatles-esque to Dylan to Zeppelin to The Who. I can see all of those influences and more. Honestly not a bad tune in the bunch.
Standout track is the album closer, "Carolina Drama". Epic song.
The entire album sounds VERY American rock to me, if that makes any sense. ...And I LOVE that about it. Wide release in all formats is Tuesday. Pick it up!

I didn't buy The Raconteurs album yet. I'll check it out though. But indie rock, indie pop, powerpop is how I would describe Vampire Weekend. I love the album. I haven't really liked an album like this since Mika's Life In Cartoon Motion.

I would actually call Vampire Weekend afro-pop. It's very reminiscint of Peter Gabriel's stuff.

Anyways, I have a new favorite single of the year.

Hercules and Love Affair - "Blind".

It's basically the guy from Antony and the Johnson's wailing over disco. It's so good, but I don't think too many people here will like it. (Cederick, you will love it).

Also, "Damaged" might be the most insteresting mainstream song of the year. I love how cheesy and over-the top the lyrics are. And how there's always like 10 things going on. It's also fantastic.

I do not understand why this track isn't released as a single. This sounds like such a surefire hit.

Maybe b/c of the rather important role of the "N" word in that song. If you change it, it won't be quite as effective.

Well they changed "Shawty Is Da S***" to "Shawty is Da 10", so I don't see why they can't do something similar.

There's also the repetitive use of the "N" and the f u c k word in "I Luv Your Girl" but it's gonna be the 3rd single. His label may think its not commercial enough and won't be a hit or at least a moderate hit.
