Ok, I'm just curious if this is even possible.

I noticed over in the Primetime Emmy section, Tom O'Neil was able to obtain the Top 10 vote getters in each category. From these 10, the 5 official nominees are then chosen.

Would it be possible to obtain such a list when the Grammy voting process begins? It would definitely make it much easier for all us to correctly chose our Top 5 nominees in the General Field and spark up more debating conversations on the boards.

I guess only Tom O'Neil could answer this. We all would really appreciate it if you could eventually obtain that kind of information come this fall. Just giving you the heads up now. Cool

Me too!!!

Last year was the first time I think we all actually saw all the eligible songs that were submitted for nomination contention. That was really helpful in coming up with our prediction and staying on track with actually who could be nominated in each category.

I just hope this year we can go one step further.

As you all know, the top 5 vote getters in every genre category will be nominated for the Grammy.

The General Field is different. The Top 10 or 15 (not sure on the actual #) vote getters will have the chance to receive a Grammy nod in the respectable categories they've placed Top 10/15 (Record, Song, Album & Best New Artist). The Blue-Ribbon panel sits down and debates with each other which 5 songs and artists deserve to be nominated in those 4 categories. I'm sure most of us already know this but for those that don't now you do.

If we know these Top 10 or 15 vote getters in Record, Song, Album and Best New Artist would be really great information to get a hold of.

For obvious reasons, we wouldn't want to know the top vote getters in the other categories cause we would know the actual nominees then.

Maybe, but I doubt it. I think the NARAS is just as private as some of the other Academy members of other award committees.
