Her Def Jam debut and fourth album, In Love & War, is slated for an August release date. The lead single, "Why R U," will hit radio on June 15 and the video (produced by Ray Kay) will premiere June 8th on BET>
Producers on the album include Teddy Riley, Sean Garrett, Eric Hudson, Jim Jonsin and Rico Love.
Well, she will make the Grammy deadline. I hope everything goes well with this album. Her other album was shelved, and it had several good tracks on it. One of my favorite tracks from her that happens to be on her shelved album is "Hate2LoveU". Amerie is beautiful, too.
Honestly, while she's quite underrated, Amerie has been one of the decade's most consistent female R&B artists. I've never been crazy about her voice, but her material is usually very enticing.
It's a shame that Because I Love It wasn't released in the States because it is truly her best album to date.
If the material is good, I hope Amerie can nab a few Grammy nods for it. And "Hate2LoveU" is stellar.

^Bad marketing. I actually don't think she's a bad singer. She needs to work with a vocal coach. She definitely has talent. I still don't understand why her label had a hard time marketing her. She has the looks, some of the talent, etc. Def Jam might market her better.
Yeah, I really love All I Have. I don't have a physical copy of Because I Love It, but I think it's her strongest effort yet.
I still listen to All I Have very often.

I agree.
All she needs is a good vocal coach and the right marketing. I mean, the material is there. It's always been good at the very least, and it's gotten better with each album.
She CERTAINLY has the looks. I do think that Def Jam will market her better.
I'd choose her over Rihanna any day as an artist, honestly.

I used to love Amerie back in the day. I hope she can achieve some success with this album because she is quite underrated, and she's fine as hell! If she was a little thicker she would be one of the baddest chicks in the game! (As far as looks go)
It's a wrap for Amerie. She waited too long to release a new album in the states. People have forgotten all about her. I expect her album to sell even less that Ciara's did the first week and continue to plummet down the charts.
I used to like Amerie. All I Have is such a gorgeous album. Her sophomore set, Touch, was a mediocre follow up. I've just lost all interest in her.
I'm hoping that there are a few Rich Harrison offerings on the album. I'm not sure though. I don't think they released the full list of producers, but given that Harrison is the producer that Amerie is most linked to, it seems odd that he wasn't mentioned in the article.
With the right promotion, I think Amerie will be fine. All she needs is for "Why R U" to take off well, and historically, Amerie hasn't had many problems landing hit singles on the R&B charts. If it does well, then she'll be alright.
I'm not expecting this to be a huge selling album, but I am expecting to be good.
I will agree, though, that Touch was a tad bit disappointing, but what I liked about it was that it didn't sound like her debut (and that was a good thing).
Gucci, have you heard Because I Love It? It wasn't released in the States, but it's honestly her best album to date. You should check it out. Go on YouTube and all the songs are there.
Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Jim Jonsin, Bryan-Michael Cox, Salaam Remi, Eivan "Ricco" Bj, Warryn Campbell, M Phazes, Sean Garrett, Eric Hudson, Len Nicholson, Karma, The Buchanans, Cool & Dre, Bangladesh, Dallas Austin, Chad Beatz, Adonis, No I.D., The-Dream, Rodney Jerkins, Pharell Williams, Stargate, Polow da Don, Ron Browz
I actually brought "Touch" (the first "B'day" album) and dig it a lot. It should've been more successful. "That's What I'm Talking About" (something like that) was a hot song. Her and Rich Harrison have a good bond together. Hopefully, she's more successful.
.... Even if you are a million miles away, I can still feel you in my bed, near me, touch me, feel me and even at the bottom of the sea, I can still hear you inside my head, telling me, touch me, feel me, and all the time you were telling me lies

I wouldnt count her out just yet. She's never been a big seller anyways so this album probably wont get past 300,000 copies. However if she can manage to chart a hit of the same magnitude as "1 Thing" I think she'll do good with the album and maybe get another Grammy Nomination!
I had the opportunity to see this girl live years ago. She sounded so good during her sound check and then followed that up by sounding horrible during the actual performance. It was some strange ****. Maybe she just couldn't hear herself.

Well she doesnt have a great voice to begin with but maybe she just needs a vocal coach. I think that's the problem with ALOT of today's artists. Quite a few of them can sing but their live performances are usually off. If they got vocal training then alot of them would actually be pretty good. I know Keyshia Cole cant hear herself when she sings and that's why she sings off-key alot. (But she still blows alot of these other chicks out of the water)

Honestly, it's comments like these that get arguments going around here.
If you liked Touch, then just saying that would have sufficed. Those sort of statements throw most of the threads around here off topic, and that's not what I want to happen to this thread.
This thread is about Amerie, NOT Beyonce. And that's one opinion that I strongly disagree with.

I'm familiar with the work of most of these producers.
I'm definitely looking forward to the album now.
And if you haven't heard it, I urge you all to listen to Amerie's last album, Because I Love It.
