"Colgado en tus Manos" - Carlos Baute & Marta Sanchez has been a huge HIT, in Spain. Everywhere and Everytime this song you can hear it. I think it will get a nomination in the BIG FIELDS.
I love "NADIE COMO TU". Calle 13 sang it with EL CANTO DEL LOCO. I think their album "PETER PAN" will be somewhere. So La Oreja de VAn GOTH and AMAIA MONTERO, who i think she could manage a nomination for BEST NEW ARTIST. IF Lauryn Hill managed after being in FUGESS, she can do it either.

Than U kams, and welcome again to this thread. I'll add your suggestions to the master list.
I'm falling in love for "Janta" by Marcelo Camelo, great great song. But "Amado" did not like to me.
By the way, is "sutilmente" by brazilian pop rock band SKANK a real contender for record and song of the year?
"Janta" is such a beautiful song. I am glad you liked it. It was elected the best brazilian song of 2008 by the brazilian issue of Rolling Stone.
"Amado", IMO, is one of the most beautiful songs of 2008. And Vanessa da Mata is a GREAT singer.
I don't know about "Sutilmente", but "Ainda Gosto Dela" by Skank feat. Negra Li could be a contender. It was a HUGE song here in Brazil.
I am very happy to see Marcelo Camelo on your initial choices list. I ADORE him and I would be so happy to see him nominated for a Latin Grammy. He deserves it. His album is just a little masterpiece (please, listen to songs like "Mais Tarde", "Téo e a Gaivota" and "Tudo Passa").

I just heard "Janta" and I love it! Vanessa Da Mata is one of my favorites singers, her lyrics are great and "Amado" is very good, I would like very much if she get nominated on the General Field (last year "Boa Sorte/Good Luck" should've been). It's clear that it'll be a braziliam artist in the Best New Artist and I guess it'll be Marcelo Camelo or Mallu Magalhães. Another brazilians songs that did/are doing very well in Brazil are "Não É Proibido" from Marisa Monte, "Desabafo" from Marcelo D2, "Agora Eu Já Sei" from Ivete Sangalo.
I would love to see "Manos Al Aire" from Nelly Furtado nominated in ROTY and SOTY, the song is very good.
The locks. I guess that Laura Pausini and her album "Primavera Anticipada" will be nominated in Best Pop Vocal Album by a Female Artist. La Quinta Estación and their album "Sin Frenos" are lock in Best Pop Album By a Duo or Group. Calle 13 will get into the General Field.

I agree. And I would add Mariana Aydar. I think she has a great chance to be nominated.

Next Line: Monareta, Teleradio Donoso, Vetusta Morla, Jimena Angel, Alexander Acha, Marta Gómez, Azafata, Makano...
By the way, "Manos Al Aire" by NELLY FURTADO and "Loba" by SHAKIRA are in the race for Record of the Year and Song Of The Year. Also MACACO is everywhere. He was submitted in many categories (general field, alternative field, music video field)

Skank's "Sutilmente" is a beautiful song that might get some nominations. If anything, it should at least get a Best Short Form Music Video nod.
Also, Os Paralamas do Sucesso released a new album this year, Brasil Afora, which will probably get nominations. The first single, "A lhe esperar" might also be a contender for a few nods.

MY FINAL RECORD OF THE YEAR PREDICTION (Official LARAS Entry List):
1* "NO HAY NADIE COMO TU" - CALLE 13 feat. CAFÉ TACVBA: The amazing collaboration of these alternative bands in a great track looks like the strongest contender of the year for the prize. MARTHA SANCHEZ Representing the romantic side of the academy comes this track, a big hit in Spain that has been growing in Latin America . Luis Fonsi ("Aquí estoy yo") or Ricardo Arjona ("Como duele") could take this place too 4* "VIRTUAL DIVA" - DON OMAR With "I want you (calle 8)" by Pitbull and "Llamado de Emergencia" by Daddy Yankee out of competition, Don Omar (Virtual Diva) or even Wisin & Yandel ("Abusadora) could take the place that usually is given every year to tropical or urban music 5* "CAUSA Y EFECTO" - PAULINA RUBIO - The Divas War between Fanny Lu ("Tu no eres para mi"), Nelly Furtado ("Manos al aire") and Paulina Rubio is on fire, but now, with more than 5 weeks at # 1 in Latin Billboard lists, Paulina seems to be ahead
