I keep debating if I want to download his mixtape. My sister's little brother always playing it whenever he is around me so I heard most of it. He's cool, though. I guess.
.... Even if you are a million miles away, I can still feel you in my bed, near me, touch me, feel me and even at the bottom of the sea, I can still hear you inside my head, telling me, touch me, feel me, and all the time you were telling me lies

The kid has talent, I mean, as far as his raps go, he doesnt make me feel the way DMX and Big Pun did when they had their glorious 1998 year in rap, but Drake is a nice change of pace. I'd really rather hear him dominate over Wayne (whom he wrote for anyway).
I normally late when it comes to buzz/hype with upcoming artists (unless I have been following them since they started) so I guess I should give him go. I dig "Best You Ever Had" and "Brand New" is hot (without Lil Wayne). His flow sometimes reminds me of Bow Wow, which is kind of bad, that I get him and Bow Wow mixed up at times. He also can sound like Lil Wayne too. I may have a hearing problem but anyway, I don't know. He needs an identify or at least one where I can recognize him from the Bow Wows' and Lil Waynes' that are already out there.
However, I love him in Degressi. My favorite show ever, Jimmy coming up nice, I see. I want to see Cassie Steele and Ms Piggy aka Paige get a career in singing and I will be in seven heaven afterward.

Not to take a swipe at you, but you must not follow hip hop because he is on every site/blog I visit.
"Best I Ever Had" is cool, but Im surprised though that it's making such an impact.
I really like the So Far Gone mixtape. Thats the first I had heard of him some months back. I hope he keeps that mellow vibe. Personally, I like Successful, Lustforlife, and the song with Lloyd. I never really cared for Best I Ever Had. I think it's blown up since it was his first single out and he has had alot of buzz following him.

I agree Gucci, this year has definitely been blah, but I really think the heavy hitters is holding out until the 4th quarter. We still got Jay, 50, Eminem, Ludacris (w/ Shawnna) & NaS along with some newbies like Kid Cudi and I believe Wale. Im personally awaiting the new Bone Thugs album with all 5 members, I forget what else is supposed to be droppin.
As far as the Drake mixtape goes, Id have to say that my TOP tracks I cant stop playing are:
Successful Lets Call It Off November 18th Little Bit Unstoppable

Wow. I gotta say that those tracks are my favorite off the mix tape as well. Funny how you hit all 5 lol.

Drake is definitley gonna be a breakout star this year. His single "Best I Ever Had" is one of the best hip-hop songs I've heard in a while. He would be a very deserving winner in Best Rap Solo Performance.
Didnt he used to play on that show called "Degrassi"?

LMAO! I'm mad you're posting this but anyway I have seen all of these shows though.

I think those 5 are a classic case of when the artist flat out picks the right beats, production is so important and these 5 do it for me so much. Novemeber 18th is my favorite current song to ride around to.
OMG I'm so happy someone finally made a thread for Drake. This dude is really talented. "Successful" is probably one of my favorite songs out right now (except for Lil' Wayne's part which completely almost ruins the song for me) but still the hook is great and it has nice epic/laid back/authentic feel.

I dont even like Trey Songz but he did that hook some serious justice, he really captured the feeling.
Drake is one of the hottest topics in the music industry (not just hip-hop) right now. His So Far Gone mixtape has been talked about probably as much as any regular rap album that's been released this year.
There's a lot of buzz surrounding this guy and much anticipation about which label he decides to sign with.
The fact that he's featured on Mary's new single is a definite plus.
Dude is doing big things right now. And if you haven't already heard it, the mixtape is fantastic.
