This decade, Autotune has became a MAJOR thing to use in music. It's gotten to the point where almost every artist has used it. Do you guys think it will ever become irrelevant? How much longer do you think people will use it? It's gettin on my damn nerves!
Very soon, I hope. I saw a commercial today with Mary J. Blige, and even she was using it. I hate it. Just hate it. You can't even sing along to that sh*t.
I think people forget that the autotune has been used for years, especially in the '80s. Today, it's like a trend. The only way you can get a hit both on radio and digitally is by using the autotune. It'll get played out as most fads do.
It's not going out of fashion anytime soon, particularly as long as artists look at it as essential tool in getting their music played and doing things with their songs that they can't do vocally. Not everyone thinks it's a bad thing either.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!

Atypical, so you don't think the use of the autotune will die down? I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. There have been many GREAT trends that were huge, but eventually went away or just wasn't popular anymore, probably because there was something new that outshone it.

Yeah, I think it's a AT&T commercial. And here's a link to an article where she defends the use of Auto-Tune:
"I won't say that it bothers me, because people do what they have to do," she told Martinez. "I can't pass judgment. Everyone else does what they do, and everyone has their own opinion. To each his own. Do what you do, because I do what I do."
- Mary J. Blige from that article.
I ddin't get what she was trying to say. The whole thing was just the word "do"
For Your Grammy Consideration: Not Whitney Houston

No, I don't think it will die down anytime soon, and if artists feel that they need to use autotune for their craft for whatever reasons, then they should have at it. Audiences will either continue to support the work or not, which is their choice. But the technology's been around for a long time, and not everyone hates it as a cause.

So you wouldn't mind if X-Tina used it on her next album?
