Do you have a link to any articles on this subject?
There's one of the many sites devoted to AI called AI Now, and they're having chat sessions with some of the excontestants. Recently, they had Melinda Doolittle, Alex Wagner Truman, Bikini Girl and Jared Cotter. This time around, they had Felicia Barton and Ju'not Joyner, who had promised to "spill some beans" about the show. You can read a transcript of the chat here and here.
What's left to say? To me, it's not surprising. Since Taylor Hicks won, the show's producers have tried everything in their power to manipulate the show. Pay attention to next season's "cast". They want a girl winner and Jamar Rogers will be put into the Top 12.
Why do you guys think there was a Top 13 this year? It's because their plans backfired.

Jamar Rogers? That's great news. I was hoping he'd come back. He has a killer voice and it was so uncool when he got eliminated in Hollywood, right before the semi-finals. How do you know he is coming back?

OK, let me explain the process.
These last audition rounds that have been going on, remember? OK, those are the cattle calls: those are the footage you see with the full arenas. In those auditions, there are no celebrity judges (no Paula, no Simon, no Randy, no Kara), only AI producers. Jamar Rogers has reportedly auditioned and been given a pass by the producers. Many other people who auditioned have posted about it in AI related sites like Vote For The Worst and The Grassy Knoll.
Moreover, "Idol" now has been all about the backstories and the drama. The producers ousted Jamar just at that moment to a)exploit Danny Gokey's sob story b) exploit his sob story next season.

He was a contestant. As simple as that.
Contestants have to sign contracts for every single week they advance and they practically sell their souls to the devil: AI has legally every right of their future appearances, performances and all. It's like, if they want to make an appearance singing at Wal-Mart, they need permission from AI.

This is just another reason why I hate the show. If its not going to be decided fairly, then I don't want anything to do with it.
Of the people that I have heard who are from the show, none of them have really stood out in my mind.
I will admit though that I did want to give Kelli Pickler a hug when she got done singing "I Wonder" at the 2007 CMA awards, but I wonder about how things are going for her musically now. She just now scored her first top ten song with "The Best Days of Your Life". I would like to know how far it would have gotten for her if she had done the song alone and not with help from one of the biggest names in music right now: Taylor Swift.
God bless you and her and Taylor always!!!

lol, to the comments about the sky being blue and grass being green. I think the show has always been rigged to some extent, but after Taylor Hicks, I think it became even worse because they didn't want that kind of debacle again.
I guess they've learned their lessons since season five with getting the science of pimping and depimping down just right, or else they really have decided to tamper more with the votes. I think that's pretty dangerous for them to do even if there is a clause that says they're allowed to throw out any votes that they feel came from a voting machine and not a real live person because the backlash of such a voting scandal would kill the show.
As for season five, I don't know why things went so badly for them since they had four previous seasons in which they mastered their formula and always got their winner or at least their solid, second choice. I think they wanted Carly Smithson to pimp in that season but due to visa problems, they were left scrambling to find another person which didn't seem like a big deal because they had contestants like Chris Daughtry and Katherine McPhee and even Elliott Yamin that they could favor. I think they went with Daughtry first and foremost though because they hadn't really touched the rock market like they had other genres like pop, r&b, and country. However, for some reason they went too over the top with the pimping, even for that show, had too much bashing of Hicks by Simon at least which put him in the underdog position which was probably the worst thing that they could have done, and Daughtry himself caused a lot of his problems because of poor song choice during some weeks which probably alienated a lot of regular viewers that don't vote for the same person every week just on who they think gives the best performance. I actually liked when he did go outside the box at least for AI with some of his "heavier" songs, but I could see how a lot of older viewers would be turned off by that. I think if Simon hadn't kept criticizing Hicks' looks and just kept to critiquing his voice and slowly depimped him in viewers' minds that way, it would have worked by the end of the season, and Hicks would have just been another one of those novelty contestants that goes too far in most people's minds, but eventually goes home around third to fifth place.

My example would be Carrie. I heard that Bo Bice guy sing once and I was like, "That dude got SEVERELY ripped on that show!!!"
God bless you and him always!!!

I completely disagree.
Even if Carrie did get some push from the producers, I think she still would have won regardless. She appealed to a much wider range of viewers than Bo Bice did, and I don't think producers pushed Carrie to the win.
A vast majority of "Idol"'s viewing audience is African-American. Based on the typical musical tastes of most African-Americans, if many watched the finale, I could almost guarantee you that the majority of black viewers voted for Carrie over Bice. Why? Because Carrie is closer to something that most black viewers would find appealing (I hate to generalize, but most black people don't listen to rock music, which is what Bice sang). Now, most black folks don't listen to country music either, but if given a choice between Bice and Carrie, I feel certain in saying that most picked Carrie.
When you have such a LARGE percentage of your viewing audience being black, and with Carrie and Bice as your last two options, it likely gave Carrie the upper hand over Bice. Not to mention, I think Carrie got a lot of votes in general, and not just from black viewers.
I personally think she won fairly, and even if she didn't, you could've probably taken away the producers' influence and she still would have won.
