Everyone in Africa knows Swedish.

If people I don't even know look at me and want to f*ck me, it means I have a really good shot at being a model.

What's Your List...?

Some people on this list aren't relevant to this decade and Rihanna is just a flavor of the moment (Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam) IMO. I'll just do the relevant artists.

1. Beyonce - Arguably the most popular and "prolific" female artist of the decade. Her style has been immitated by many and other careers have religiously been compared to hers.

2. Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey is on eof the most legendary figures of 1990s and the 2000s. IMO, Beyonce and Mariah Carey are interchangeable for the #1 spot.

3. Madonna - Madonna is one of the most entertaining, controversial, and legendary music icons. From the 1980s to the late 2000s, Madonna is still cranking out top 10 hits and #1 albums.

4. Alicia Keys - Alicia Keys is a soul genius and one of the most talented R&B/Soul pianists I've ever heard. She'll definitey be remembered as a musical genius. Unlike, any other artist of the decade. Most women had to resort to dance-pop and contemporary R&B, but Alicia had stayed in her soul/R&B realm and is still able to make #1 hits.

5. Shakira - The most popular international Latin star in the world. She's done two difficult things. Putting out quality albums and still making hits.

I chose not to do the rest cause my screen is gonna get f*cked up if I overwrite.

6. Christina Aguilera
7. Amy Winehouse
8. Britney Spears
9. P!nk
10. Missy Elliot
11. Gwen Stefani
12. Nelly Furtado
13. Carrie Underwood
14. Mary J. Blige

I don't really see anyone on Criss88's list that's any less relevant to this decade than some of the ones you included. The only one I can identify is Sheryl Crow.

And this is BEST female artists, not relevant or influential, right? Which means "relevance" doesn't really matter at all. Here are my picks. I thought a lot about this, probably more than I should have. This is ranked based on an average between quality (in my opinion) and influence/impact/importance:

1. Madonna
2. Mariah Carey
3. Missy Elliott
4. Christina Aguilera
5. Pink
6. Nelly Furtado
7. Gwen Stefani
8. Alicia Keys
9. Beyonce
10. Kelly Clarkson
11. M.I.A.
12. Alison Goldfrapp
13. Jennifer Lopez
14. Rihanna
15. Robyn
16. Jewel
17. Bjork
18. Fiona Apple
19. Beth Orton
20. PJ Harvey
21. Britney Spears
22. Kylie Minogue
23. Jill Scott
24. Amy Winehouse
25. Vanessa Carlton

My Ranking:

01. Mariah Carey: Mariah's dominance in the 90's certainly influence 100% of the other Pop/R&B younger female artists who have appeared on the above lists. Though the 90's were definitely Mariah's decade, she has carried her success and influence into the 2000's like few artists have been able to. After a shaking start in the early 2000's, Mariah exploded back onto the scene in 2005 with one of the biggest "comebacks" in pop music history. What resulted was the longest running #1 single of the decade. the best selling album of 2005, and multiple Grammy's. She returned to the top of the charts this year with "E=MC2." Again, there may be younger artists out there who have dominated the 2000's, but Mariah's influence can be seen in virtually everyone of them.

02. Nelly Furtado
03. Rihanna
04. Beyonce
05. Robyn
06. Alanis Morissette
07. Pink
08. Madonna
09. Gwen Stefani
10. Christina Aguilera
11. Alicia Keys
12. Shakira
13. Carrie Underwood
14. Fergie
15. Amy Winehouse
16. Mary J.Blige
17. M.I.A
18. Bjork
19. Kylie Minogue
20. Norah Jones

Ha ha. It's funny how Rihanna comes in before Beyonce, P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, and Mary J. Blige. And she hasn't had a hit album before "Good Girl Gone Bad", which only reached #2. roflmao

Well that's his personal opinion. And why are you constantly hating on Rihanna? Yea she not have the best voice but she's talented enough to be a star.

I'm not hating on Rihanna, I'm stating my personal opinion like Troy did. BTW, you don't need talent to become a star.

It's as simple as this: Overall, I enjoy Rihanna's singles more than I do of what the ladies you mentioned have put out in the 2000's. "Umbrella" is one of the very best records of the decade in my opinion...that is enough to put in higher than the other ladies. Beyonce, for me, is extremely overrated.

All a matter of personal opinion.

Well outside of you, no one felt the need to single out a person on someone else's list, you got the ball rolling....

Five chicks I like in the 2000's:

1. M.I.A. (Arular and KALA; nuff said)

2. Nelly Furtado (the albums, three sounds, all good)

3. Feist (from the indie music scene to mainstream success, she's just brilliant)

4. Mariah Carey (she's back and on top of her game)

5. Gwen Stefani (from No Doubt to "Hollaback Girl", she's been pushing the industry)
